German super-heavyweight-contender Markus Becht 3 weeks before the world championships in South korea.
But first he had to qualify next weekend at the german´s "team universe elimination". (5 guys can qualify). Markus is known that he can improve his condition a lot in the last 2-3 weeks.
He was one of the first training partners of Markus Rühl (and still good friends) several years ago.
He also is the last german Amateuer-Bodybuilder who beat Dennis Wolf (in the same year where Dennis won the overall at the world championship in China, "Heavyweight-Cup").
He really have no weak bodyparts, great mass & great porpotions. For him it`s always the question, "in shape or not..." if "in" he´s very hard to beat for many Amateur. I hope he will qualify and reaching his peak in 3 weeks.

Yesterday Markus Becht won the German-Qualifier for the IFBB World Championship in South Korea.
About 80-90 % of his potential was enough to get the ticket (the 4 best Athletes get their flight-Tickets
for free, the 5th place-Athlete have to pay the ticket by himself if he wanna compete in Korea....).
Markus Becht is planning to dropping another 5-6 lbs. in the next 2 weeks to compete near 100 %.

"weighing in", 219 lbs (he did his class up to 220 lbs). Now it`s time to load up !! I´ll predict him with 225 lbs & harder & fuller onstage !! Come on Markus....get your Medall !
The judge right of him is Erich Janner, who is in Bodybuilding for about 50 Years. He also where Judge at the Mr. Olympia several years ago, and trained with Arnold in the same Gym in Munich before he settled down in California.

Markus placed 3rd in the 100 kg Category. Congratulaton !! (was his fist intern. apperance)
The winner of his Class Piotrkowicz (Poland) won the overall-title.
I hope to see him in 1-2 Years again at the World-championships. He has the potential to win the title.

Markus is now on the airplane on his way back to Germany. He really is motivated to prepare for next Year (Bahrain).
I saw Nobody in that Contest you could match his Quad-Mass. And his Overall devolepment is also very good.
Watch out for next Year, when there`s Someone in the 220 lbs class who look 10-20 lbs heavier than the other Competitors, than it`s Markus....the following 2 Pictures show what i mean, even next to this Year overall champ (who already was in great Condition and also had not many weaknesses, derseves the title this year...) he looks like the Man with the biggest Muscles onstage.
Many Experts here in Germany said, he could not get ready for the World Championships, Even 5-6 Weeks out his Bodyweight where around 117 kg

and with a pump on the same day.....there are not so many Guys who can match his pump. With a pump he is always looking 20 lbs heavier than without.

I was thinking the same thing. That silhouette pic looks especially funky. How tall is he? Waistline looks a bit squishy.  Nice legs though. |

He`s 1,73 m....on the last photos he weighed around 15 kg (30-35 lbs.) more than at the world-Championships a few weeks ago. It must be around 255 lbs...

it´s around 5 "8", he is planing to start his pro debut in about 7 Months (1 or 2 shows prior to the olympia), his Contest-weight will be around 12 lbs more than in his last Amateur-Competition. A good friend of Markus, Manuel Bauer (intern. German-Champ overall), ist also 1 Athlete here in Germany who has the Potential to compete as a Pro....here is 1 act. "Offseason-pic" from Yesterday. Hope he get his Procard (but right now the IFBB Officials of Germany don´t give it to him, because he wasn´t at a european or Worldchampionship, but i think, if the guy is good enough = give him the procard). |
