We all loved him as Mr. Olympia; and we still love the big guy to this day.  I hate seeing Ronnie trying to win back his spot.  I truly believe that from here on, his placings will begin to fade.  I support him for his drive to still compete; but he's done all that, and was at the very top.  Now, where can one go post Mr. Olympia?  Masters Olympia is no longer in the event; and quite frankly it's for the "old folks". I can't see Ronnie or any past Mr. Olympias compete in that group.  He just seems out of place now.

Ronnie
You are still and very much everyone's hero in this industry; even after placing 4th.  I wish you well on your up-coming competition; and I also hope you find endeavor success, so that you don't have to compete anymore.

God Bless!

He should just go back to being a cop full time, without the juice of course.

I didn't mean he should drop the industry at once; he should stay in the industry, not as a competitor, but as a mentor; or spokesperson; an official; or a representative for the atheletes; etc.  He would be terrific as a judge.  Something a little more behind the scene, for the betterment of the sport.

Not a chance, man. He needs to go, him and the rest of the douches that ruined bodybuilding. The type of mentality that size is everything has to get out of bodybuilding and focus on conditioning, proportions, as well as size.

he should do the arnold. none of the guys placing top 5 at the o would be competing, so it's his to win, provided heath doesnt enter.

He should take some time off, and give other hopefulls a chance.  He's had the throne for multiple wins and I just can't see him winning back title.  A lot of people would want him back; and alot would like to see their new favourites have their day, too.

I respect the courage and determination of someone trying to reach their maximum goal and potetial, when they haven't reached it.  But, for someone who has reached that goal eight consecutive years, and loses the  ninth; then they shouldn't be so greedy.  They have all the fame and fortune; it really is time to share and let others move-up on the ranks, and experience it.

Yes, by-all-means he should be at the ASC; just not competing. Ronnie at this point, has unfair advantage over everyone who placed below him at the O's; the same competitors who will compete at the ASC 2008.  Even at his worst condition, sympathy votes will place him top five.

I'm not anti-RC.  It's time for a new bite!!

bbing is a dog-eat-dog world. u gotta have the right sponsors... gotta have the biggest back... gotta be the best. if ur not the best, u dont deserve to win. ronnies had his time, but it should be motivation for the other guys, if ronnie continues to enter and beat them.

BUT i do agree with u. time for the lesser guys to shine a bit. i would support an under/over 202lbs class as part of a single contest wholeheartedly. thats how it should be, especially at the olympia. to shed more light on the smaller guys who get overlooked.

QFT!

They should have always had a weight or height class in all competitions.  Too many guys who were phenominal have gotten overlooked due to this very issue.  God damn I can't wait till Ben Wieder drops off the face of the earth and gets his fingers out of BB.

why did they cut it out? maybe they wanted to give the title more prestige by only one man being called mr olympia, rather than 'mr olympia, under/over 200lbs'. the posedown between franco and arnold at the 75 o was great.

maybe the real question is, why did they bring it in in 74? most likely to give franco a title, since he wasnt deserving of the overall while arnold was reigning, but was still weiders boy. i never understood why he won the olympia always the year after arnold won. i guess that personifies 'riding ones coattails', even though franco could hold his own against alot of bbers. this is getting off topic Smiley

I'm not sure how much of a household name Ronnie is in the US but if he does have some sort of fame I think it will be very difficult for him to return to life as a cop. Think of all the grief he would get from crims if he does get back to pounding the streets.  Undecided

I can't see him going back into the force.  He'd be advised to shrink back to civilian size.  Pro-bb industry is his relm, and he can still maintain his proffession in it.  He's gonna have to re-invent himself as a guru and not as a competitor.  Once you made it to the top, you can't go back to hopefull competitor and vie for the spot that was once yours.  Why bother?  Sports nutrition companies are looking for the atheletes at their prime 30's or younger, to endorse.   He has a better chance at being an effective spokesperson for all pro-bb's.

He respects lee haney.  Lee works with the youth and such...Im sure ronnie will go the way of haney.        We need the kids to focus on health and sports instead of gameboys and texting at hyper speeds.

( Im not implying pro BB is healthy)    Weights should only be used as one tool in your arsenal.

NO it's the judges that voted for him and the other size freaks that need to go!

there's nothing wrong with size aslong as it looks pleasing to the eye (ala arnold, sergio, coleman circa 1998 - 2001). it's when an obvious lack of proportion, symmetry and conditioning are ignored due to the immense size of the competitor, that the problems begin.

True wealth as oppossed to just amassing a wad of wealth would include a real estate investment portfolio...ala Cutler's pursuits.

When I see these guys buying lots of cars...I often think of "bankruptcy".

Hopefully, someone is advising Big Ron to avoid this plight.

Being a cop....those days are LONG GONE.

I don't think he really has to do any of the things mentioned so far.

He could just combine a number of part-time gigs into a lifestyle.

Some examples would be continued personal appearances with or without posing. Another i would like to see him part of, that would amount to great publicity for him as well as BB would involve serious prep followed by entry into the World's Strongest Man. That's assuming he can get over injuries and at a lower weight, regain some of his agility. The chances are diminished because his BB career ended with him in his mid-40s, but it's intriguing.
