I talked to Tanji today. She is doing quite well, and she is due to come down for the Ironman Pro and Fit Expo in downtown Los Angeles on February 16-17 to do a seminar.  She is recovering very nicely, and you probably won't even notice that she had any type on injury when you see here (she in in Seattle now).

She also is due to be at the Arnold Expo, although not in competition this year.

It was cool seeing Tanji bring down some competitors on the American Gladiators!  She is one tough competitor!

That's great to hear about her recovery. My prayers go out to you, Tanji for you to continue your successfull healing, career, and life...and a prayer to the poor souls that will meet you in Gladiator Arena when, not if, you return.  ;)

..... I say heck ya! Since then, I have won 3 Pro shows and am now ranked 4th in the world in fitness. It was worth it. It made my return better, and sweeter and I cherish my times of intense activity b/c I don't take it for granted.

Check that...4th...dunno - by our system I've got ya 2nd!   ;D

Tanji, the ever positive fitness icon.  You are a true inspiration girl!
Love the attitude and even better your genuine personality.  I wish I had half the positive energy you have...

As for whether it was worth it...is anything???...heck so many people are afraid of risk, yet complain that nothing good happens to them!  LOL, I can't wait to see what's in store for you.  I know you are going to be unstoppable in whatever you persue.

Looking forward to seeing you around at the ASC.

Rick

3) I want to also let you know that it was completely worth it. I am an athlete, and there's something incredibly rewarding about giving 100% without fear, without reservation, and a willingness to sacrifice for something most will never achieve. Example, in 2003 I tore my achilles training for the Arnold. Some would say, is it worth it to do fitness when you could get hurt and be out for 6 months or so. I say heck ya! Since then, I have won 3 Pro shows and am now ranked 4th in the world in fitness. It was worth it.

Here here!  Keep doing what you do, Tanji.  I remember you getting hurt before - your fans (like me) were more devastated about it than you were...to come back from that particular injury and so quickly was nothing short of miraculous (my opinion).

Clearly they must be getting paid better than they would be competing or doing other things in the industry, so good for them.

Do you really think that competing pays well?

LOL no.  I was really talking more about being on the show as a competitor and not as a gladiator.  I assume the gladiators get paid pretty well, better than if they were competing.

Ohhh, gotcha - I completely read it wrong.  I thought you were talking about competing in the IFBB or NPC (or FAP or Ms. Fitness, etc.).

First place is $100,000 but I'm not sure what 2nd place gets.

I do not know any numbers, but it's doubtful the Gladiators earned that much this season, however, the sky's the limit on how big this could grow over the next few years.
