I wonder what happend with Ronnie's body. Was it all ageing or is he hiding something. Seems like we never will know unless he write a book :).

I think mainly ageing and burnout.

ronnie has competed in the pro ranks non-stop since 1992.

thats a hell of a long time and he started a bit later than most too.

Thanks for the pics Ice. Yes, Ronnie
was incredible in 99. He must have killed himself dieting
away all that muscle in the last 5 weeks before the 2002 Olympia.
Some 1999 pics...

A couple from BFTO 2003.
I imagine in the 290's considering
he competed @ 287. Amazing small
waist from the back at that weight.

i have always hated the way ronnie does his side chest shot, he seems to lean downwards for some stupid reason, i wish he corrected that and i'm sure it would make that pose look that much better

the only pose that ronnie truly knew how to hit well all the time was the most muscular.

most of his other poses could have been improved in terms of how he hit them, IMO

Especially the front lat spread... He could have looked awesome in that
shot but he almost always slumped his shoulders forward. Here is a shot
of him hitting it right and he looks great.

2002 was the year he tried to redeem himself after coming in too heavy and out of shape in '01 and narrowly escaping with the title as Jay made his first big run at claiming the Sandow.
Everyone told Ronnie that he should come in similar to his 98 shape in NY when he won his first Sandow. So, Chad and Ronnie went to the drawing board and did "exactly that," as Chad said once over at Mayhem. But obviously Ronnie didn't look anywhere close to his 98 showing. I remember Ronnie's biceps were shriveled up and gone! His freakiness was nowhere to be found, and he was flat as a pancake off the stove.
Had Jay not sat out 2002 because he was pissed he lost in '01, he could very well have won a bit earlier. But the "ifs ands or buts..." can't ever be proven.
Then Ronnie came back to for the redemption of a lifetime, in 2003 and came in at nearly 300lbs, and ripped as can be- but not nearly as sharp as he could have been at a lighter bodyweight.
Some people speculate the reason that Ronnie is continuously coming in bigger is because that's all he can do now. There is no going back to his 98 form, because he can't due to whatever reason.
