I dont know if this is Metallica's April Fools joke or not....but Lars was just on the rock station here in Phoenix and announced that after 2009 Metallica is going to break up. He said that the band has done all that they need to. They have nothing else to prove. So on and so forth.

I havent really cared about them since the whole Napster thing....but it kind of sucks they are just breaking up.

Again....I dont know if this is an April Fools joke or not.

They should have split in 1986.
And even before 1986, they produced sub-par thrash metal compared to the likes of Exodus, Kreator, Sodom, etc.

exactly thats when they came of to me like business men instead of artists, gave me a sour taste in the mouth of them too.
they probably sold a lot more dvds and cds merchandise since the introduction of sites like youtube and the downloads of songs too.

Agreed - a band that built itself with no radio play and an bootlegging suddenly was against the very thing that helped make them popular. Hypocrisy.

I always felt that one was all Lars though, and James couldn't give a shit.

Dude I'm agreeing with you, Smith's first 4 records were killer, very few bands have had so many strong albums in a row. But relatively speaking Pump wasn't total garbage compared to the shit they put out once they signed a huge deal with Sony
