Don't know an exact number but some friends of mine went and it was pretty empty and the mens finals didn't start until well after 9pm.

its tough to get new shows to prosper for more than a yr or 2,arnold,olymia,ny pro, ironman have been and always will last due to there reputation.

the NY Pro is a mere shadow of what the NOC was.   the Ironman moved from a 4000 seat theatre to a 1200 folding chair side room in a convention center.     The Toronto Pro (sometimes called Niagara Falls Pro) was well established but is now gone.  The European Grand Prix is gone.   San Jose/San Francisco/Sacramento Pro is gone.

The problem is that fans have to travel to get to shows, so they usually choose to attend one of the two big ones (Olympia or Arnold).  That leaves the local population to attend the smaller shows.  Even NY and LA struggle to fill seats relying on the local fan base.  Why even rent auditoriums for the smaller shows.  The IFBB should set up a "studio" with proper lighting and seats for the judges and not have an audience.  This studio show could be done 4 or 5 times/year and shown on webcast.

If anything they should do more beach shows in the summer. Have them somewhere indoors and small for prejudiging and then have them outside just after dark for the finals.

TRUE,,if your getting into it yes noc would attract over 40 bbers on stage in mid nineties, niagra, san jose, san fran were all mid level staples in mid to late nineties.the grand prix is a shame because going to other countries and showcasing the best was big in the eighties and nineties too,now the olympia is u.s soil.back in haney  day they went to rimini,essen,ect...shame.

I can't beleive there isn't going to be any more Colorado Pro shows.  To save this "sport" we need to look to Lee Thompson fpr answers.

There seems to be no criteria for promoting a show.  Whoever thinks they can do it only needs to pony up a little cash and go for it.  The IFBB "pro league" needs to start running it's own shows.

the promoters are required by ifbb rules to pony up $50k sanction fee, 6 months before the show, correct?

I wonder if they have $150k sitting in a bank somewhere from the promoters of the shows who cancelled late.

Or, is this rule not enforced for certain promoters?

Are you saying that the IFBB arbitrairily picks and chooses which of its rules to enforce?

No, I'm asking if that is the case.  Does anyone know?  Bob, it was you who brought the 180-day pre-pay of the $50k number up, about 2 years back.  Is this rule still in effect, and are there any exceptions made, and if so, why?

No, that's not correct. Not sure where you came up with the $50K figure....no pro shows have a sanction fee of $50K.

THe show shoeld never have been put on the schedule to begin with....

The rules state that the sanction fee be paid and the prize money be put into escrow before the show takes place...not sure of the time frame, but I'm sure it's not 6 months....

That said, no contracts have been signed to do the show from athletes, only in the event the show was canceled from the 6 week point in to the show, would the athletes that contracted to do the show, be eligable for any compensation from the sanction fee paid.
