KARATE KID TRILOGY
« on: March 26, 2008, 08:50:14 PM »
Last week I bought the Karate Kid trilogy.  I watched all those movies MANY times as a kid and loved 'em.  Watched them again and still loved them.  Anyone else think they're awesome?  I bet one of the mods here will say yes :P :)

Karate Kid I is one of those movies that if its on, i cant not watch it. not for the fight choreography of course but there are so many underlined messages in there that are not necessarily related to fighting. story line is great..they messed it up with KK4 though, that was horrible.

Yeah I agree about KK 4 but you gotta admit Hilary Swank is a fine looking bitch.

BTW what do you mean about "so many underlined messages in there"?

I presume he's referring to martial arts philosophy

Karate here (points to head) Karate here (points to heart) Karate never here (points to belt)

The kid: - Karate is fighting..you train to fight.
Miyagi: (pausing) - Is that what  you think?
Kid: - No
Miyagi: - So why train?
The kid: - So I won't have to fight.

Overall great movie - Elizabeth  Shue was soo cute.  I loved part 2 as well with the trip to Okinawa. Part 3 was so-so. Never saw (or wanted to see) part 4

The first one was great! The second one was so-so, although the ending was cool with Daniel-San getting OWNED trying that "crane kick" shit again. The third one was great too!  8)

1 and 2 were awesome. 3 was so-so, and The Next Karate Kid was pretty bad.

how would it do had it been released in this day and age?  flop majorly?  don't think inspirational movies exist any more

I watched it again recently - it's a bit cringeworthy and I found it hard to sit through.

not really the underlined messages were all applicable to life in general, not only to martial arts.
Miyagi had a good one about balance in life, cant remember the quote though.
the Okinawa film was actually filmed in Hawaii. that was a pretty good one.
