Santorum really likes judging people's faith
« on: February 20, 2012, 02:22:59 AM »
He said Protestants are basically gone from christianity and called them peacocks.

He just recently went after Obama on his faith, which I don't figure most here will care about.

But then I found this, he went after McCain's faith too:

He also attacked Romney's faith in a sneaky way:
"Romney wouldn’t have been comfortable in a gathering where you have to explain “why you believe what you believe and where that came from,” Santorum told reporters Sunday

It would be interesting to see how often he's used religion against opponents.

Funny how people who pray to the Virgin Mary imply that Protestants are apostates.

I left the Catholic church years ago and joined the Baptist church instead. One of the best decisions of my life.

Santurrón: Spanish for someone who hypocritically demonstrates an exaggerated and false religious devotion or holiness.

Where do they get the idea that birth control is a bad thing?  Do they have any scripture they use to try to support this view?

Thanks for this info...I'm familiar w/the story but after some googling, it looks like you are right that they (at least some) are somehow using that as a foundation for their anti-contraception stance.  Some use it as an anti-masturbation stance for some reason.....but both of those interpretations are quite a stretch imo because the way it reads to me is that his disobedience was the reason he got whacked....not "contraception."

The true reason is that the Roman Catholic Church needs many many Roman Catholic babies in order to survive and stay in power, simple as that.  That's the reason they support Viagra, because in a Catholic marriage Viagra = more Catholic babies.

At the beginning of Christianity, 2,000 years or so ago, staying single and not having babies was encouraged.  Jesus did not marry or have children.  Paul did not marry or have children, and he encouraged other Christians to do the same if they had the ability to abstain from sexual immorality.  Getting married and having "Godly offspring"(Malachi 2:15) was of course not discouraged either.  Either was fine.

The growth of Christianity in the first century was due to spreading the Gospel and making new converts, not on having lots of Christian babies.  All that changed a few centuries later, mainly thanks to the Roman Catholic Church.

Ron Paul/Andrew Napolitano

Just looked up his picture...I thought that name sounded familiar.

Is he politically inclined to run for something like that?

Andrew Napalitano would not need to run for something like that.  If Paul wins, he can offer VP to anyone he wants.

Correct. Onan died because he dosobeyed a direct order from God.

The anti-contraception stance is based largely in Catholic dogma, which is all it is, dogma. I can understand wanting to get rid of contraceptives that destroy fertilized eggs, but preventing the fertilization doesn't seem to contradict anything in Scripture.

Yep...I meant like how he and Ron would have to run against Obama/Biden...seems like some people just wouldn't have the desire to go into politics at that level.

What do you think of a Ron Paul/Andrew ticket?

Do we really know that as a fact?  It's been a while since I read into that subject, but there were some interesting readings from some of the books that were left out of the "official" Bible.  I can't recall the validity of them as I never looked into it much.

Sorry to derail the conversation.
