I took 2 Dianabol a day for the last 7 weeks for my second show. Got them from my Dr. It was the first time I ever took anything. I gained 7 pounds on it while I was bsically starving. Stuff was awesome.

Thanks man, I appreciate it. I got 3rd in the heavies that year.  :'( Unfortunately I learned most of what I know after I quit competing.  :'(

Yeah it was 1987 for that show. I have also done some pretty hardcore dieting when the circumstances called for it. I remember living on liver tabs for a few days at a time before.  :P

My friend Lloyd Collins won the Teen CT the year before I THOUGHT I was gonna win it...so I asked him, "Lloyd, what did you eat prior to the show?"

He said, "I ate one piece of fish per day for a month..."

Lost in the translation was the fact that he did eat some other stuff.

That's all I ate...and some salad with vinegar and maybe two rice cakes per day.

Lost a ton of muscle, grades went down for a while, was light headed, and took 4th in a show I likely would have won.

All my fault.

Hell, the effort was there!

You were not using any stimulants were you (like meth)?

No...this was like back in 1983...I don't even think meth was around...and this was a tad pre-ephedrine...so I can't really even remember how deep into the well I had to dip to summon the resolve to get through my days on so little food

It was pure obsession. I wouldn't even use the word motivation. The fact the we were also so naive as to believe we could achieve anything we tried helped a lot too. I sometimes went as low as 600 cals per day. This was while working 9 hours per day. I don't think I could ever find that kind of drive again.
