this is fucking stupid,i arrested someone 3 weeks ago for sexual assault of a child and he got probation.snipes doesnt pay his taxes(which he could easily payback) and he gets three years

Because if Snipes had gotten off scot-free, you would have had 30 million new folks deciding not to pay their taxes next year, which would be a real problem.

They had to give him the maximum.

Well, there's no excuse for not paying taxes so he has to be punished (and pay the back taxes). However, I don't think he'll get 3 yrs. Our jails are already too crowded. The legal system should be finding alternative punishments for non-violent crimes.

Wealthy people like Snipes pay a ridiculous % in taxes, I don't blame him for not wanting to pay, he deserves more of his own $. Thats why we have to change our gov so its easier to cut spending than raise taxes.
