I was working out a YMCA a few years ago, it was like a typical Y, it was very high-end and the place was known for being rude to people.

How would I know who was using it? It was empty so I jumped on. Fuck him and his workout if he doesn't want to work in with me. I talked to the manager girl, she laughed about it and said next time not to use "vulgarity" to get my point across.

Exactly if there is no towel, water, headphones, shoes, something to mark that it is being used, I use it. No reason to stand there asking every two bit dipshit if they are using the machine.

Any big guys I ever saw at the gym were always polite, including myself when I was still training.

I could never figure out why so many "bodybuilders" on the internet boards would have problems at the gym, or at the club because I never once had a problem.  Now I see that it is the little punks that get zero attention and want to feel important.

Did you really have no idea the kid was doing sets on it?  Because if you did know but just kinda subconsciously chose to discount the observation, then I'd feel disrespected if I were the kid too.  You including the part about "being sick of that gym anyway" leads me even more to suspect that rather than just seeking out another gym you're looking for a reason outside of your own direct choosing to (have to) make the move.  No need to make yourself the jackass in the process is what I'm saying and doing it this way will probably ensure that you have to walk around town bad-mouthing the place (IRL AND here on Getbig) just to clear your dirty conscience of the mess YOU unnecessarily provoked.  You're the adult here, he's the kid...even if he wasn't entirely in the right it's the mark of a true superior to still help everyone settle down so that there isn't lingering bad karma.
