I got mine last year it was $2,300 i think.  It has Vista on it.  What really pissed me off is I had just bought a new video cam for a laptop a few months before and it didn't work with Vista.  I still have it and they still don't have the drivers for it to work.

I'm using a copy of vista Ultimate 64 bit with Sp1 downloaded, and the program works fine with everything...And I'm far from a Microsoft Fan boy...

The truth is Vista is faster for certain things...For copying large files...I.e 5 gig DVD's...However, XP is faster for almost everything else..

Why $2000 ? Buy cheap and update every year instead. I wouldn't spend more than a third of that and then buy new more often.

2000 is the ceiling.  I'd happily spend $1000 and drop the other grand on hookers and blow.

Well the reason why it is more is because it is a gamers laptop.  At least the model I have.

why buy a laptop. you work from home mostly right. buy a stationary. much better performance, bigger screen etc. etc. to many people buys laptops that dont even need them.

And you can easily do upgrades yourself on a stationary, while laptops price/performance truly suck and most of them can't be upgraded when newer components become available.
