Comparing Fedor to Kimbo is like comparing a high school standout to an elite professional.

He had a brief part in the new hulk movie and talked about controlling breathing.

Rickson never had any quality competion in mma. His mma record is 11-0 mostly against Japanese c-level fighters.

It's a stupid question man.

Could be because Rickson has been in it since before MMA was around and before Fedor was born.  By the time MMA took off Rickson was too old.  It's not his fault.  But in his prime he would have done very well in MMA.  He was strong, fast, flexible, incredible endurance, and very smart

MMA today compared to Rickson's generation and before, is just play. A sport designed to entertain and excite. In the Vale Tude (literally: anything goes) days the ref's job was confined to just keeping the fighters from falling out of the ring and raising the hand of the winner. These were bare knuckle, head butting, no time limits fights. Helio Gracie (Rickson's father) while in his fifties fought for over three hours straight against a former student.

Real fighting isn't pretty. But it isn't meant to be.

In the first fight Rickson is fighting Zulu for the second time. He beat him 3 years earlier at 18 years old. The second clip is a typical tournament with one of the fights featuring Rorion Gracie who brought Jiu-Jitsu to the world and is primarily responsible for changing martial arts forever.

Sure they were no name and you can never be sure how things would have gone with today's fighters. Still, this was the real thing. They didn't make big bucks but just fought because they were warriors.

Rickson at 49 years old doing a cameo for the Incredible Hulk. Hasn't changed much since the days I got to roll with him in the early 1990's

Thats what i thought.
Watching all fight of MMA and asking some question to MMA athletes. Look like the flexibility is the most important thing. And Rickson was like a snake!
Fedor also has good flexbility. Flexibility is the most important thing in ground skill.

Oh Brotha.

Fedor shouldn't be compared to Kimbo in any sense.

As a BJJ practicioner, and a member of the Relson Gracie association, I will say that Rickson, in all his greatness, would get destroyed by Fedor.  If Mas Funaki, can clip Rickson, Fedor would pummel him.  Big Nog, who is the best MMA fighting BJJ blackbelt got destroyed by Fedor on two occasions.  Fedor's ground and pound would KO Rickson from Top.  Rickson is only superior on the mat, without striking.  I don't think his closed guard would be sufficient to stop Fedor from posturing up and dropping some heavy strikes to KO Rickson.

Regarding the loss to Tripp, "he didn't understand the rules."   ;D

If they were to fight again, Rickson by armbar.  (had to say it.)

You are delusional, and I mean that with no disrespect. Rickson's record in professional fights is 460-0. Show me a single fighter that can even approximate this. If we include amateur brawls, that record rises to 2,000+ wins with no losses.

You seem to ignore that, even to this day, most fights end on the ground, and who's the king there? ;) Are you really that insane that you believe that Fedor would be able to grapple with Rickson once they are on the ground? Fedor has a small chance of knocking him out when they are still standing, but that's his only chance.

If you think that Fedor's greater size and strengh would close the deal, think again. Rickson has fought with Zulu, a giant who outweighted him by 100 lbs, and who could crack the trunk of a small palm tree with his base hands. Strikers, graplers, wrestlers; Rickson has fought with all and defeated them all. Boxers, kung Fu masters, black belt karate champions; all were demolished by Rickson. As for a BJJ black belt having been defeated at MMA, who cares? He was not Rickson. ;) Rickson makes black belts seem like white belts. Like Royce said:"Rickson is ten times better than me. When it comes to him, I am just a fan like everybody else." Or to quote Mirko Filopovic:"Rickson is Zeus, the god of the gods." Just accept the facts that Rickson is the greatest ever, and bow down before crushing greatness when it's staring at you. ;)

Yeah that's why he never fought Bas Rutten who challenged him and never defended the family name when Sakuraba was raping the Gracies.

There was plenty of quality competition around, he just never faced any of them!

Why does Rickson need to fight against everyone who challenges him? Do you have any idea how many people in the World challenge Rickson to fight? If Rickson were to accept every challenge made to him, he would be fighting 24 hours a day, and there would still be people waiting in line for years to fight him. Bas Rutten is a second-tier fighter who never achieved the level Rickson has, so why should Rickson accept his challenge instead of the other millions of challenges fighters make him?

Garbage. He fought against the best of his time. He even won the first two editions of PRIDE. He was 37 in 1998, so it's not like he could continue fighting forever. The only reason why he stopped is because he was getting too old for fighting, and not because he was "afraid" of anyone. Rickson afraid? He has said in interviews that he is willing to die in the ring. Like a Japanese fighting magazine once said about him, he has Samurai spirit, and let me tell you that the Japanese comparing a foreigner to Samurais is no mean feat!
