Maybe he should be running for President of Germany then.  ::)
No, President of the U.S. will be just fine.
When he is sworn in you are free to leave the country and not come back.   ;)

Obama didn't visit the wounded troops because he wasn't allowed to bring the press with him, that being said he chose not to go.

He did visit them in Iraq.  Just not germany.

State-by-state polls are all that matter, guys.

www.pollster.com to see where the electoral states would fall today if election was today.

Obama has had some bad gaffes but you're right, they don't get much coverage.  Everyone who is publicly speaking every day is going to have a lot of screw ups but Obama has some that approach the Bush level.

Here are a few choice blunders I found (there are a lot!):

"Well let me be absolutely clear. Israel is a strong friend of Israel's."

"Israel is an ally of ours. It is the most important ally we have in the region, and there is no doubt that we would act forcefully and appropriately on any attack against Iran nuclear or otherwise."

"If I talked to Iran, I'm going to tell them, 'You should develop a nuclear weapon. It's going to set off an arms race in the Middle East. You have to stop funding terrorist activities.' "

"Our troops fight and die in 20-degree heat to give Iraq's leaders the space to agree, but they aren't filling that space."

"I would immediately call the president of Mexico, the president of Canada to try to amend NAFTA.. "

"My father served in World War II, and when he came home, he got the services that he needed."  [Completely false]

"I had an uncle who was one of the -- who was part of the first American troops to go into Auschwitz and liberate the concentration camps."     [Auschwitz was liberated by the Soviets!]

"On this Memorial as our nation honors its unbroken line of fallen heroes, and I see many of them in the audience here today."   [he sees dead people???]

"The time has changed for come."

"The Time For Come Has Changed."

...all these claims of Obama blunders and gaffes only surfaced after McCain started having a few "senior moments" (confusing Shiahs and Sunnis etc).

There isn't any substance to any of them... like we've already seen in this thread, at best the gaffes are shoddy paraphrasing by Republicans with poor comprehension of the English language (which seems to be all of them).

There is no "liberal media" conspiracy here... you rednecks just have a poor language skills. Besides, the vast majority of American media is distinctly right-leaning (Rupert Murdoch owns most of it).

With phrasing like that I wouldn't make a habit of condemning the language skills of others  ;D

The point (which obviously went way over your head) is that he makes a number of just plain stupid statements but you rarely hear them reported by the mainstream media.  Considering that Dan Quayle's political career was basically ended because he misspelled "potato", I'd say these are valid gaffes to note.

As far as the American media being right leaning, you have no clue what you are talking about.

Good catch, Tesla... I used to work as a proof-reader so an extraneous "a" is pretty dumb of me.

The point I was making with regard to these supposed gaffes is that they never match what the anti-Obama camp report. Where is the video to support any of these gaffes by Obama? It's all a game of Chinese whispers... even in this thread the phrase "...who I expect to be dealing with for the next 8-10 years" has been deliberately mis-reported as "I predict when I'm president for the next 8-10 years..."

Isn't that a little prejudicial...?

I have to disagree with your opinion of American media... it is distinctly right wing.

FOX News can't even be shown here in Europe because it is classified as propaganda, and that represents (panders to) at least a third of the American news audience. Add to this the monopolies so prevalent in American media (Rupert Murdoch and a couple of his drinking buddies decide the news for the vast majority of Americans) and there's no wonder Americans are so enamored of and indoctrinated with these patently false capitalist ideologies.

For the record: Ralph Nader is centrist by world standards... Albert Einstein is/was left wing.

Please feel free to dismiss these very valid points by calling me either "French" or a "communist".

I love how most of the people offering strong opinions on this are not Americans. These people have no vote in an American election because it's NONE OF THEIR BUSINESS.  You don't see me telling the Canadians or Brits who their Prime Ministers should be, or the French who their President should be, do you?  ::)

The leader of one of the most powerful and influential countries in the world matters to all of us.  It is absolutely our business.  If you guys go to war, it is likely that my country will(excluding Iraq, Chretien  surprised us all with that).   Granted I don't care who is the leader of Albania, the difference is they don't have military bases over the world, intelligence agents placed in almost every country ect.

Yes, but the WORLD is delegated by America.

They depend on us.

We rule them, whether they know it or not.

You're the guy throwing around names like "redneck".  I really don't care where American media stands with respect to European standards.  We have freedom of the press and don't have Big Brother telling us what we news is and isn't fit to watch.  Your governments allow al Jazeera but you won't allow Fox news, that's too funny.

For Obama's many gaffes just search youtube for "Obama's gaffes" or something similar.  There are lots of videos.  Here's one:

As far as "patently false capitalist ideologies", well, capitalism isn't perfect but it's the best you're going to get and most Americans understand this.

Bwahahahaha, yeah, ok

...eh, FOX News? The NRA (who pay for tv ads)? A shitload of right-wing think-tanks who put out bullshit reports whenever Carl Rove asks them to?

What America doesn't realize is that the centre is quite a bit left of where they think it is... the American media is so heavily controlled by big corporations that most Americans don't even question what they have been told to believe:

-Americans believe in the free market, but don't seem to comprehend that monopolies and cartels have full control of that supposedly "free" market.

-Americans are against "socialised medicine"... yet are unaware of the fact that every country in the world with a better healthcare system than the US (all 35 of them) use it.

-Americans don't believe in proper welfare systems because they term them "handouts"... yet their society's growing wealth disparity has done nothing to improve the lot of the "average" American, instead it has severely destabilized their country (New Orleans, Detroit... just another ten cities before total collapse).

...this is not the product of a "liberal" media.

Our health care system is non pareil, just ask all the sheiks and other woirld leaders who comes to New England and the Mayo clinic when the shit hits the fan....where else are they gonna go...CALCUTTA? fucking retards

...Moosejay, turn off the FOX News and try thinking for yourself.

Ask yourself, where in the world would I most want to live if I was disadvantaged: homeless, a widow with young children or severely disabled... that is the measure of a society's quality, not how it treats billionaires.

This is a serious question... can you answer it without dismissal; evasion or cliched catchphrases?

I'd want to live in the USA.

There is no other place on earth where everybody is cared for, ultimately

Down the street from my girlfriend's house, two beautiful houses were just built for widows with kids by Habitat for humanity.

These are FREE houses that they get.

I have no prob lem with that.

Sometimes, people suffer from incidences beyond there abilities to rise

And, there are more of these houses for disadvantaged in this little town of Wallingford, CT.

Free houses.

I paid for mine...mortagag paid off through businesses I started myself.

When I got out of school, I crushed my leg and developed severe nerve disorder. I lived in the YMCA in Chicago for n6 months.

Ultyimately, I made myself a success ON MY OWN.

So:

Two examplaes here of American excellence.

One: Habitat for Humainty...give poor, disadvcantaged new houses.

Two: Man gets struck down, pulls HIMSERLF up on his ownb as the American system allows him to, and succeeds beyond his wildest imagination.

I do this without Fox News, or signing my name in the third person, goofy.

Wow, Moosejay... two whole examples...

I suppose all those UN reports decrying the US's deplorable: homelessness rate; infant mortality; child mortality; literacy; healthcare system; public services; education standards; poverty rate; rich/poor disparity; job benefits; pensions; economic opportunity; welfare systems etc. etc.... are all just a load of baloney.

By the way, dismissing a generalized accusation applied to an entire nation/economy by means of two specific  individual instances is highly evasive and intellectually dishonest.

So I guess when I asked:
This is a serious question... can you answer it without dismissal; evasion or cliched catchphrases?
...I guess I got my answer: No, you can't.

Pity you didn't add a "Support our troops!" to give the full diabolical trio.

You realize the irony of telling people that you 'pulled yourself up' all by yourself why admitting that you lived at the YMCA?  You realize that the YMCA was created to help people 'down on their luck' AND receives public tax money?

You really are a tool...
