I just wanted to take a moment to thank Alex and 240 for their generous donations.  I really appreciate it and it will definitely help pay for the co-pays.  Yes, I have health insurance but even at only paying 10% of my bills.  Just the surgical cost for the ent surgeon was $120,000 (not including any hospital costs, lab costs, anesthesiologist and other surgeon).  They (the ent's office) had called the day before to tell me I owed $1,200 for my co-pay.  I can't even imagine being a person without insurance and having to pay such a bill to live.

Ok i dont understand, in OZ medical is free."Medicare" so u paid $1,200, is that all, or do u owe $120,000.
i know dumb question, i dont know how it works in the US.
In Oz, if someone has a operation its no charge...

Wow, in Australia, its free. the government covers it 100%
we pay for medicine but there is a rebate sometimes too

Wow...good stuff!  Yeah, somewhere along the line making a profit became more important that keeping everyone healthy.  Which is why more money isn't put into "preventative medicine" and trying to keep people OUT of the hospitals.     My, what would pharm companies do then!

Rebates are for pensioners, but in OZ pensioners dont mean old, it means broke, sometimes i take my neighbours card to the pharmacy and medication if i need it, instead of paying $60-$80 with the card you pay $4.70 yep Four dollars and seventy cents.
