I'm really sorry to see you going through this. May I ask what have all these surgeries done as far as improving this condition? When I researched your condition, the consensus was that surgery was sort of controversial as a treatment modality. What , in your opinion , think causes the body to develop this syndrome. I know you said you were treated for Melanoma before and you had some sort of heart issue. Is there any possibility that any of the treatments or procedures for those problems caused some other part of your body to develop this neurology problem? If you were able to eventually get off all medications and get you're system detoxed and extremely healthy, do you think it would help at all? Again, I don't know these answers, but I do believe when the body and immune sytem are functioning at full capacity, it's hard to have too many health issues.

Well, orthopedically, they have stabilized the three injured joints (Right wrist, elbow and shoulder. Neurologically wise, they have stoked the painful fires of neurological torture!

Yes. I have had such a long history, and, have had stage 4 RSDS, so the prognosis is not often good. But I have had haltingly goodluck with remissions, they have most recently done a cervical sympathectomy to remove the splancnic chain of nerves in the neck that control sympathetics (Pain and sweat) to quell symptoms...I will post ex at bottom.

What , in your opinion , think causes the body to develop this syndrome.

No one really knows.

Lets say you break your hand. Your brain sends messages to the hand and back that you are injured, in pain, swelling, injury, healing ensues. This takes time. The reflex arc of transmission of these messages is at first lightening quick, but, as you heal, they low, to the point that the brain says, "Okay, you are healed, carry on."

With RSDS, those impulses sometimes never turn off....thus, even tho healed the swelling and pain can continue forever.
