IMO, rove's plan is to turn the election's conversation away from the last 8 yrs (skyrocketing gas and food prices, Iraq war, record federal deficits, housing market collapse, stock market imploding, record inflation, record forclosures etc) and make it about emotional issues such as fear, religion and abortion.

personally i hate that fucker, but he clearly understands human psychology and using it to his political advantage.

on 2nd thought, ...this could have been a very calculated decision on Mccain's part in order to change the national debate just before election day. he cannot compete on issues of the economy, climate change, foreign relations, the war in Iraq etc, ...so choosing a running mate with a pregnant teen, changes the topic of discussion to abortion.

It's kinda sad that such a large percentage of the American public is so vulnerable to such simple manipulation.

This is mostly true but who else would a conservative vote for?  Conservatives like myself realize that you must excite others to get your choice elected.  Not like that is genius as others say.

Bottom line:  This election hangs in the balance of those swing/independent voters and McCain is winning that vote right now.
