People shouldn't vote for who they feel sorry for. They should vote for the person most likely to stare down Russia, who just moved bombers into Venezuela and will be flying to Cuba this week to highlight their ability to do what they please.

yes, on 911, Hugo chavez kicked out our ambassador and will buzz a bomber by, near south florida this week.

And we want to put in this woman, who thinks since she can SEE Russia, she's prepared to face down russia.

pathetic.  This joke just gets sicker and sicker.  I think we're going to look back at this election as an insane joke.  What were were thinking?

You guys (the left) put yourselves in that position.

I care about America being safe.

I know that our enemies will test the hell out of her.

Why in the world she'd greenlight israel to hit iran "if they think they need to".  Insane.  Insanity.

You keep harping on Palin.Ok,lets agree, she sucks. Are you satisfied. Now,lets talk about the top of the ticket.THATS who we are voting for.Lets see,who would I trust to stare down Putin,Obama or McCain.A man that was a soldier, who put his life on the line, who stayed to endure torture when he could have gone home so he could stay with his men,a man that has sttod up to his party time after time at the expense of his own career?Or a guy that was a community organiser, which is little more then a rabble rouser.A man that sat in a church for twenty years and listed to hate whitey rhetoric.A man that has zero accomplishments in his life?

The democrats love to focus on Palin, but we are voting for president. In that regards Obama is simply outclassed. His talent?Reading a teleprompter.

mccain is 72 and has had cancer 4 times.  he's flirted with only running once. Palin will be the nominee in 2012 if she doesn't inherit office, God forbid.

Looking at her viability as a top ticket is more than reasonable.

She said "nucular." Twice.

I realized three things tonight. For one, if you are a McCain/Palin/Bush voter, you and I do not have a difference of opinion. We have a difference in brain power. Two, she really is as ignorant as I feared. And, three, she really is kinda hot. Basically, I want to have sex with her on my Barack Obama sheets while my wife reads aloud from the Constitution. (My wife is cool with this if I promise to "first wipe off Palin's tranny makeup." I married well.)

Now, I want to be clear and speak directly to those of you who LOVED that Palin interview. You're an idiot. I mean that. This is not one of those cases where we're going to agree to disagree. This isn't one of those situations where we debate it passionately and then walk away thinking that the other guy is wrong but argued well. I'm not going to think of you as a thoughtful but misguided person with different ideas who still really cares about the country and the world. No, sorry, not this time. This time, if you watched those interview excerpts and weren't scared out of your freakin' mind, then you're mentally ill, mentally disabled, or mentally disturbed. What you are NOT is responsible, informed, curious, thoughtful, mature, educated, empathetic, or remotely serious. I mean it.

But I like to think that anyone can change.

Stop voting for people you want to have a beer with. Stop voting for folksy. Stop voting for people who remind you of your neighbor. Stop voting for the ideologically intransigent, the staggeringly ignorant, and the blazingly incompetent.

Vote for someone smarter than you. Vote for someone who inspires you. Vote for someone who has not only traveled the world but who has also shown a deep understanding and compassion for it. The stakes are real and they're terrifyingly high. This election matters. It matters. It really matters. Let me say that one more time. This. Really. Matters.

interesting commentary from another forum

Bravo. I was momentarily super impressed thinking you wrote that too, Rob. Nonetheless, it's spot on.

I'm voting Barack Obama now, 100%.  I was going to vote Nader, but this lady and McCain are just too dangerous.  I won't ever fight in any of their wars, ever.  People like them aren't worth "defending."

i'm far too scatterbrained to write that.  but it sums up the seriousness of this election.

We need a leader who is shrewd, smart, and able to diffuse threats in the world.  Obama will meet with world leaders, and will scale back what has been, frankly, aggressive US expansion into the middle east in the last 8 years.  Yes, we invaded two nations and set up shop.  That pisses off the rest of the world.  We'd be hella pissed if Russia invaded two countries in South America and set up a hundred military bases, right?

Obama will stop that aggressive expansion, and talk with other world leaders.  McCain will not.

it's that simple.  Who do you prefer?  The guy who will keep doing the global expansion and pissing off the world (Mccain), or the guy who says we need to stop invading countries, and try to fix our own (Obama)?

They're first attempting to sell stock and ownership to groups including CHINA.

When this fails, they'll demand a federal bailout.  We did it with the top 3 - Bears, Fanny, Freddy.
Leahman is the 4th largest, I believe?  They're doing the publicity "we tried, we really did!"

Palin was horirble in this interview.  Gibson was a lot less tough than Putin, who will set up base in Cuba and then ask her what her next move is.
Already sent/sending two bombers into Venezuela for 'training exercises.' He's already testing the waters. That's Cold War distance.  :o

Nice try..........but Lehman has assets all the others don't, namely guy Bremen (SP.)   The Gov't wants no part of this and on the Fixed Income side, they're trading accordingly.  Don't go where you don't belong.

If you care about america being safe then why in the f**k would you even consider Obama? Palin might not have the foreign policy experiance but McCain probably has more than anyone on Capitol Hill, she could easily learn....and quickly. I feel safe having someone like McCain to make sure he keeps up safe. Obama want to cut out military budget down to almost nothing. How's that keeping America safe?

A great deal of that military budget is allocated for military EXPANSION.

You see, that $3 billion per week we spend in iraq - while iraq has a $80 bil surplus they won't touch- that is military spending that IS NOT NECESSARY.

We have 800 bases worldwide, dude.  Obama is saying he'll make iraq pay for their own war.  He'll ask germany and UK and other nations to donate money to win war in afghanistan.

It's financial responsibility, and we've been missing it for the last 8 years joe.

To be fair, she has her hands full with her family, with a retarded baby, a very young daughter, son going to Iraq and a pregnant daughter.  Add to that she is the governor of Alaska.

McCain made a silly choice.  Governor Pawlenty of Minnesota was the right choice.  McCain was very close to Obama in the polls already.

By picking Palin, McCain gives up the issue of the need for experience to run the government.  I think it was a very bad move.

However, I still prefer McCain/Palin to Obama/anyone.

If Obama is elected, that's it.   I'd prefer to risk McCain dying in office.

Increased military budget? Foreign policy initiatives? Increasingly paranoid DHS programs? You play golf everyday(?), frequently post online, live in a nice house and eat well. How are you feeling unsafe, Coach, or are you fear-mongering?  ???

My little friend......the gov't didn't bail out Bear. They oversaw their being bought by JP Morgan.   After this they made the Fed window open to other firms like them available for liquidity. They bailed Fannie and Freddie as this would cause more of a public calamity to let them drop. As a result motgage rates dropped after this was announced. Why? Because there will now be more money available for borrowing....good for housing.  I work in the Fixed Income area of one of the largest firms on the street, done so for 12 years.   Starts with an M and not Merrill.

Your comments are typical of the not knowing what you're talking about phenomenon running rampant on these boards.  If you're not sure, don't comment as though you are.

Hmm. Perhaps not 'experts,' but those posting (on both sides) are certainly passionate, and care enough to try to discuss the issue(s) in a Getbig manner/forum. I suppose if you want to sit on the sidelines and jeer at them and offer nothing positive to the debate, so be it.  :-\

come on rob, billy. you guys know that she will never run this country if she was indeed vp and mcain died in office. she will look the role and play the role but a few men will control her in whatever she does. she will do what the guys behind the scene will want. its not gonna matter if she is vp.
