Normally I'd love to pick holes in your story... but...

The fact that you were a cop at the time makes me think the story may be BS.  most men wouldn't allow themselves to be slapped.  I can't imagine a cop taking it, or even ending up in a situation where a slapping is imminent.  A guy like defendis - who in 88 was a new pro and allegedly dealing out the ass (arrested shotly after) woudln't be slapping cops.
