serious pain, serious question
« on: November 05, 2008, 10:37:02 AM »
I am not coming up with much at all with google as far as causes with whats going on with me, I figured I would ask the bros here if anyone has experienced something like this before.

I went to bed late last night and didnt sleep for long until I woke up with this stabbing pain in my lower left abdominal region right about the inner bottom of the oblique muscle on that side.  it seriously hurts to breathe deep or to move around and is very painful when pushed.

I am drug free and I have no real physical medical conditions.... I didnt consume anything out of the ordinary and nothing was out of the ordinary except for today when I woke up, and its not getting any better. there are no organs besides intestines in that region so its not an issue with liver, appendix, etc.

any input is appreciated, I dont have health insurance at the moment so I am trying to avoid going to the doctors if at all possible because it will cost a fortune even if they run some basic diagnostic tests.

I know I am going to get my balls busted posting this shit here but considering the amount of activity on this board I figured someone might have an idea or steer me into a better direction as far as researching this ailment.

Is it a stabbing pain whenever you tried to breathe more deeply?

yes, or any sort of mild disruption like walking up the stairs etc.

I don't think a hernia is likely in this case, I didnt do anything really physically strenuous yesterday, just raked some leaves in the yard but it wasn't taxing or very physically demanding, and I was fine all day and all through last night til I woke up today, it seemingly came out of nowhere.

Obviously go to the doctor, but it sounds similar to something I experienced once-I got something lodged in my intestines, it hurt like hell and pressure on that particular spot caused me to yell out loud.  It was a matter of puking and moving around a lot to dislodge it. But go to the ER.

Do you have any fever?

Are your bowel movements the same as usual today?

Are you urinating more frequently?

Does that area hurt more when you bend over?

Does it "feel" like it is in the muscle?

If it doesn't go away today, definitely go see a doc. And get insurance, that's just irresponsible.

Jizzacked, consider using this symptom checker:

Hope it's nothing serious!

If you go to the doc, think about letting us know what he says.

Hope it's easily remedied :)

Nothin serious bro, you know when you are not "ok" you make some crazy thoughts of whats going on, so its all in your head. Doc will take care of it.

Good luck.  8)

A spastic colon maybe?
The muscle affected is usually right above and down across the hip area and hurts all time, even when breathing sometimes.

check your diet - what did you eat differently?

Eat a ton of fiber for a day and flush out everything.

If still painful, go to ER.  It's free, you get a bill, but your life is priceless, baby!

Any abdominal distention? Have you been able to have regular bowel movements? Diarrhea?

Could be as simple as constipation or IBS or potentially more serious such as colonic volvulus or even worse certain types of cancer.

Good call. Last year I found a bump on my side and totally freaked out.  Then my stomach hurt for 2 days thanks to all the stress fluids my stomach released.  When I checked the other side, hey, I have one there too.  Turns out when you get leaner, veins show :)  But just that moment of "oh shit, somehting is wrong!" can cause all sorts of stomach digestion/stress issues.

One last thing man.. did you eat a lot of shit at halloween?  Those sugar cookies with icing you get at WMT... those things taste great, but they constipate me for days.  I forgot and ate some on friday and didn't take the browns to the super bowl until monday.  I had to write myself a note never to touch them again.  Flour gets in the gut and just sits there.
