Wigg, at the risk of sounding racists (I'm far from it BTW) do you actually think he was elected for his experiance??

I'd love to be subsidized enough to take the day off but small businesses don't take many holidays off.  No one pays the bills.

Same here. However you can quit your job starting tomorrow after the oath of office. He is going to make it to where the government has your back... Isn't that what his stumps were?

Hell no.  Anyone that says otherwise is a fool.
There have been plenty of men with much experience that has really messed things up.

He happens to be an incredibly charismatic guy that appeals to a broad audience.  People are used to having career politicians run for and win the presidency. His lack of experience will be a plus and minus.  Plus, because he's not going to be another run of the mill politician doing the same BS.  Minus because he doesn't know the ropes.

I like the idea of having someone brand new and not tainted (yeah, yeah, Resco and Wright  :-X). Am I elated because he happens to be black?  Hell yeah, I think it's awesome that now when a little black kid aspires to be the president, people wont look at him or her and laugh.

I think conservatives will be pleasantly surprised how much to the center President Obama will govern and libs will be a little upset because they thought they were getting a socialist.

It's going to take alot for Obama to fuck up because A) we are already in a bad situation B) People are going to try everything to make him succeed)  He's already halfway to a successful presidency ;D

Trust me Jimmy, I understand very well that some people of my color will be looking for handouts and will be very disappointed.  My people need a good cultural cleansing.

I don't care about the day off thing.

Business as usual for this brotha and his family (even though the former spouse did try to get her ass choke-slammed this morning).

I've got bills to pay and supporting two households is no picnic.

We honor Dr. King's memory by talking about civil rights and the meaning of 'opportunity' in America.  I don't talk to her much about the Struggle, but I do occasionally tell her 'there used to be a time in America' when certain things were not allowed.

I love the fact that America is taking the time to remember, but we don't need days off, we need days of employment.

And we pay far more than our fair share of taxes.

Time to start looking everywhere for write-offs.   >:(

I agree Wiggs.  I truely hope Obama governs from the center.  There is some suggestion of that more recently but not from his words on the campaign trail.  Hopefully that was to appease the far lefties.  I worry that he will make the government bigger and stronger, which is only in the interest of people who are dependent on gov programs.

Which includes all the politicians and their friends, too.

The problem is that most Americans have no clue about that, because the dominant groups have the ability to keep us focused on those lazy, unproductive poor people.

MLK is a government and bank holiday, but far more private sector employers don't observe it than do.  This has nothing to do with racism, and everything to do with the fact that it is not one of the six long established traditional holidays.  In fact, it is the newest of all federal holidays, and didn't even exist at all when I was a kid.

There are 10 Federal Holidays:

New Year’s Day, Martin Luther King Day, President's Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Columbus Day, Veterans Day, Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas Day.

Of these, New Year's, Memorial Day, Independance Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, and Christmas are pretty much universally recognized by the public and private sector alike.  The other four, however, are newer and tend to be work days for the private sector (except banks), while government, schools, etc are off.

Thanks for clarifying that..(no sarcasm)
