Polamalu's training is geared for a specific sport, football in his case. If at that same gym, a baseball, basketball, soccer player (or whatever) would have different style programs. Each athletes trains to fit his needs for that individual sport. Basic lifting strength is only part of a serious workout plan. PL'ing is pretty much a straight up and down motion. In main line sports, like football, lateral and bi-lateral strength is required greatly. Also these planned programs usually highlight one leg at a time, or one side at a time, exercises. Polamalu's program is designed for stamina (endurance + strength), timing and muscle balance.
Some Pl'ing are not naturally gifted athletes. This may be shocking to quite a few here. They can get super strong in the 3 lifts but that does not always mean any thing but average performance in other sports. Olympic lifters tend toward the more athletic type of lifter. Strongman lifting also fall into the athletic abilities group. Quite a few BB'ers may have a hard time walking and crewing gum at the same time. Even more trouble when walking, crewing gum and flexing the lat's at the same time.
I am sure 99% of the guy's here could not last 5 minutes on a Polamalu type of sport training session. And on the other hand he probably can not bench 400+ or never have 19" guns. Or look crappy on a poising platform. But than again he may have 20 million bucks in the bank.
Side Bar: That long hair is an old tribal/family Samoan thing. Not too many there or mainlanders do that anymore. Long hair in American Samoa is a pain in the ass. Also tat's are very big over there and here. Surprise have not seen any noticeable tat's on Polamalu's. Probably are on the calf's and upper leg's. Think Polamalu was born and raised in Oregon or Washington.
