Embryonic stem cell research has yet to show any promise, even though it has been privately funded in the US and funded in other countries.

Adult stem cell research on the other hand has already shown promise time and time again, as it did in this one case.

Nobody opposes adult stem cell research.

There were two reasons for that and curing the worlds problems wasn't one of them.  I don't see the US as needing to go into Africa and dump a bunch of money into a problem that they could do themselves with other methods.

Again, Cap, there are one million americans with HIV.

If there is a cure that can save Americans lives, wouldn't you support it?

And, contrary to Beserker’s claims, there’s no religion standing in the way of scientific process.

In fact, one company that works with baby teeth to get stem cells is run by a devout Christian, Dr. Robin Crossman.

Aside from children born with AIDS, transfusions, etc there are a lot of those that could have been prevented.  AIDS is preventable if you are not dumb.  I don't feel bad for junkies and degenerates that put themselves in a bad situation.  Wrap your tool, get tested, and don't whore around

should we stop treating lung cancer because only *some* of those who suffer get it from second-hand smoke?

how about colon cancer, the main cancer than kills men.  Poor diet causes it.  Do we cease all research on it because, well, you shouldn't eat junk food?

You can't compare cancer to AIDS IMO.  Cancer kills way more people and a lot of cancer patients get it from ways that are not preventable.  We should spend more money on cancer than AIDS.  I'm not saying to cease research but WE as a country should not spend a lot of money for other countries.

everything causes cancer these days bro, HIV is contractable only a few ways...cap has a valid point I think its great that they may made such progress in curing HIV but cancer should definitly be a much higher priority.

So if they don't practice proper health that's their problem.  There are many ways to prevent HIV and not nearly as many with cancer.  I don't feel bad for smokers and don't think they have the right to sue when they get sick.

You can't compare AIDS here to AIDS there.  Aside from transfusions and children being born to infected mothers, it's pretty preventable on your own here.  Look at cancer, there are completely healthy people who suddenly develop brain cancer.  They didn't get that from fucking an infected cancer patient.
