SM ,do you know Evan Shoman ? what do you think about his art ?

Don't know him....he's got great technique, that's for sure.  I'm curious as to what medium that is...graphite?  Not taking anything away from the guy at all, but like Saucetradomous I would prefer to see something from Evan other than replicating photos.....

yeah.. what the guy does is actually pretty brainless.. he's basically transferring the exact image of a photo using tools.. now if he did that work by free hand eyeballing it - that would be impressive. but thats not what he's doing.

so its really not so *excellent* or skillful.
i agree this work is ok

wrong. the guy is very skillful. Not everyone can do that, and it takes a lot of work to get that good. Maybe not creative, but skillful. Same can be said about musicians as well. I know a guy, plays in a cover band, he can shred on guitar and play any song. His own music suck ass tho.  :-\

I agree , Shoman says he uses 2B and 4B pencils on a smooth Bristol paper and a smudge pencil thingy. that's it .

i believe someone doesnt have to be very talented to pull of that ronnie martinez art, if its drawn from reference (not with the help of photoshop filter) its only a matter of copying whats going on in the photo. like SM says, you need to see more of that guys work to judge if he has a real talent. i know of talentless people making good money with making art, they just learned the technique like anyone can.
i think i will make some work too for uploading in the future, quite motivated after seeing work of the great sexual mustard ;D

actually its not really *art*.. the guy is an illustrator... he's not creating anything.. he's simply transferring an image the best he can.. which is boring and a waste of time I think. I'd rather just look at the image.

this guy doing the caricatures (sexual mustard)... at least he's creating something worth looking at.

Norman Rockwell did ok financially as an illustrator but then of course he's no Pierre Puvis de Chevannes with the human form.
