Maybe he was trying to prove that you have to be tough to be "one of the boys" or some dumb shit.  He was probably trying to prove that the kid was not tough enough.  That kind of thing never would have never happen back in the day. Guys like Murdoch who was known for being a little rough on the young guys would have never done that.

The only thing New Jack proved was that he is a pure ass hole

Jack was harder on that kid than he would have been on one of the boys.

I’ve heard stories that some old-timers would intentionally potato a noob if they thought he was only there out of curiosity (or to “spy”), or wasn’t going to last anyway.
They felt that would then – to some degree – “legitimize” the business when the kid would go back and tell all his friends how he got busted up by these wrestlers.

Hogan told the story of (Mr. Saito?) breaking his leg or ankle during an early training session.
Or is that bullshit?
