When to eat carbs if workout at 5pm

The simple answer would be in every meal :D but i don't have that luxory >:(

I usually workout after meal 1 so that's perfect, but for a while i will have to workout later in the day, My carbs have been cut down to 160g on gymdays and i usually eat 60g in meal1 (oatmeal) 45g pwo (dextrose) and 1-2hrs later 55g (white rice)

If i eat around the times 9.00 - 12.00 - 15.00 - 18.00 - 20.00 - 22.00
Usually my carbs are in meal 1-3. If i workout at 4-5pm should i have my carbs in meal 3,4 and 5?

is it okay to not have carbs at breakfast or should i have a tiny bit there?

any thoughts?

why cant you eat carbs in every meal?


you should eat them every meal.


if your dieting, and thats why you dont want them in every meal, id say eat your carbs 9am, 3pm and 6pm. morning, and pre and post workout.

why?? you think i eat 160g carbs volountarily?? of course it's a diet :D

so you would do 9-oatmeal, 3-rice, 6-dextrose ?? no slow carbs after training and dextrose..

heres a tip = drop the oatmeal and use white rice. 

use zero fat simple carbs - less calories than "complex carbs"...and on restricted calories you dont need to worry about the glycemic load... no carbs are being stored regardless of whether they are fast or slow.


in fact using fast carbs might be superior for fat loss than slow carbs - a spike in insulin and the reslting dip ininsulin allows for greater fat metabolism during the period of low insulin.  with slow carbs insulin slowly rises then goes back to normal - it never dips below normal.

when dieting keep your carbs at 160 for 3 days and then carb up on fourth day.....and always get some amount of carbs before and after w.o.

Weren't you a HUGE advocate of NOT eating carbs... ever?  Like super low carb diets?   Candibombz, what gives?

aa yes the white rice trick :D I do know that one, but i have been saving it for later when i'm leaner and need to break thru an eventual plateu...

I have not had a high carb day in a long time. i am using a small deficit in diet about 300 cals and don't think it's neccesary as my cals aren't that low yet ???

when you carb up you refill your glycogen levels and then you can't burn fat until they have come down abit again... discuss

i lost all my fatboy baby fat - botu 100lbs of it.... on an atkins type diet...  this was 4 years ago...

however i find now that i get better results with low fat diet...   

i think there is something to be said for the effect glycogen and insulin have on hypertrophy and anti-catabolism..


why the white rice instead of oatmeal?
compare 50 g of carb from white rice and 50 g of carb from oatmeal

less calories in white rice, and a higher spike in insulin which results in a "crash" of insulin levels below baseline...which then alows for effecient lipollysis (fat burning) and a consequent big jump in gh (and igf1) levels...

although it can be pretty effective for certain people if done a certain way.

I wonder if that is one of the reasons polynesians are so large. Rice is a staple. In hawaii and Samoa you can even get it with your eggs & spam breakfast meal at McD's

but then again, most asian cultures eat it a lot and are small. Just curious...
