Converting Lossless files to MP3?
« on: April 18, 2009, 08:38:45 AM »
Anyone know of a freeware program that will convert FLAC, CUE, etc files to MP3s so I can put them on an Ipod?

I thought ipods support lossless shit or whatever format it was? If not there are plenty of programs out there, ill see if i still have one and let you know.

I just lost my zune, fuking left it at the gym and somebody must have snagged it and not turned it in bastards. I was thinking about getting a ipod touch b/c of the accessories for apple shit as opposed to microsoft. Do you like your ipod and its software?

I can't help you out sorry, just wanted to add that if anyone knows how to save Youtube videos as MP3s I would appreciate it. There are tons of live performances on there I would like to have on my MP3 player.

I use Itunes to load the Ipod, so maybe the problem is with Itunes willingness to accept the format.  It doesn't like the taste of anything but mp3s.

Appreciate any advice bro.  I've downloaded 2 'free' programs, trial versions, which either didn't work or I was too stupid to figure them out (likely...).

Sorry your old one got nicked.  Look on the bright side that you'll be happy with an upgrade anyway tho.  I bought a 2g Ipod Shuffle (my first) because it's the smallest thing out there, about 3/4" x 1.5".  The 1g is the same size but the cost for the extra gig was negligable.  The price was right too, although I spent about twice that again on some decent isolation headphones.  It is ideal for the gym or sports activity (I wear it a lot at work on building sites) because it is light enough to clip to your collar, is totally out of the way, and allows complete freedom of movement.  Arm band or belt worn models would be a total PITA by comparison, I would guess.  Proper headphones are a must tho - the stock jobs are absolute shite.

The Itunes software is ok I guess, but I have no basis for comparison.  It does the job but I wish it accepted more formats.

Hmmm.  Sorry man, my Ipod is super small and has no screen.  I haven't seen anything for video or pics on my Itunes.  Maybe ask Apple or check their site is all I can think...

Here's a direct link to where you can download the AVS Audio to iPod software.
You can run it, or save it to your computer to install later. See if that works for you.

Hope That Helps
