Storm, little kids need to look up to their parents not some stranger who they know zero about. Kids should not not look up the anyone because they can shoot a basketball, throw a ball or lift weights. To me, this is bad parenting. By implication you saying that you would allow a total stranger to serve as idol for your kid? As a parent it is one thing to allow your kid to praise someone for their physical gifts but they need to explain the facts about not looking for heroes in strangers.

Very true. At least, if my kid wants to look up to someone, I'd rather see him looking up to a Nobel prize in physics or an artist, at least someone who's legacy will forever be alive. If your 6-year old shows you a pic of Kai Greene and tells you "Dad, I wanna be like him when I grow up", it's time to rethink the education you're giving him and probably get an appointment with a shrink.
