What I can't comprehend is how some guys can squat more than they can deadlift.  The squat is more "skill" and uses the same basic muscles so how can someone squat 200 lbs MORE than what they deadlift?  Huh

Maybe their grip is the weakest link?  Or else they're doing half squats?

it's what i call the "westside syndrom":
for example a total
squat 1100
bench 800
dead 750

explication:
1100 half squat.
800 belly shirted bench press.
only 750 dead, generally sumo stance , with an hazardous and shaky climb,  no lock out but 3 white light by judges.

it's not the proof that the dead is the real test of strengh, but you can't cheat with dead, that why the so-called pler are so weak at.

Regarding squat strength vs. deadlift strength, the "assistance" for the squat ie knee wraps, briefs, squat suit, can give lifters up to 300 pounds extra on their squat, and the dead, the suit can MAYBE give one 50 extra pounds.
