Active Ingredients (in each caplet):

    * Ephedrine sulfate 25 mg. Bronchodilator
    * Guaifenesin 400 mg. Expectorant


Will that other ingredient in Bronkaid cause any bad side effects if the symptoms it's intended to treat aren't present?

that's an expectorant.  It's used to clear up mucus membranes (sinuses).  It shouldn't harm you with 1 dosage, but I wouldn't take 2 in 24hrs.  That's a lot of ephedra as well.
