That is one strong lift especially for his bodyweight! I wonder how he got his grip strength so strong? When using alternate grip I almost dropped the bar with only 190kgs.

this impresses me too, he look in shape, not like a power lifter at all, yet very strong.

yea, have you tried even deadlifting 315 with Double overhand grip and no straps, i can't fucking do it.

with alternate grip i can deadlift 405x2 but with double overhand like layne is using i can barely move 315 inches off the ground.
His grip strength is ridiculous.

Hook grip. You  put your thumbs under your first and second fingers. It hurts like hell but once you get used to it, it is good. If you ever loose it though it just pops out... no chance to grind out a rep if your grip goes.

He did that weight no straps with double overhand grip. Very impressive. Maybe I should start doing my lifts "for the troops" to break 405?  ;D

Holy shit what stereotyping. Bodybuilders have bigger guts than powerlifters nowadays.

And oh yeah, all the armless/legless/headless marines will thank you and your lift, Layne.

Don't think the "headless" ones give a sh*t.  :-\

that's not double overhand. it's a hook grip.

Might be yes.  :-[

Bodybuilders have bigger guts than powerlifters nowadays.

Just to corret myself so I'm not completely stereotyping myself.  :D If we compare bodybuilders and powerlifters within the same weightclass. They might have even bigger guts. There.  :)

Layne has to be the most dedicated guy out there.

PHD in protein synthesis, never misses a meal, never goes out partying.

Gotta respect that

Sounds like he's missing out on many of life's great pleasures.

What in the world does that have to do with "The Troops".

I can't believe this guy - he acts and looks like a total turd in the video.  His physique in contest shape is impressive, but his little act is ridiculous.  Good lift, but this still registers as an EPIC FAIL.

watching the ridiculous, stompy, meathead act before his lifts almost makes me support Planet Fitness' policy.

Not serious, but you know what I mean  :P
