John & Kate Plus 8 DIVORCE:

My Girlfriend is hooked on the show and so my occasional viewing is a natural byproduct – not to mention the unbelievable media attention it’s garnering.
I - like many, I'm sure - have doubts as to the legitimacy of this saga.

Reasons:
a.) The family lives in Reading, PA – not exactly a paparazzi hotbed. You almost never see anyone from the family in tabloid magazines, which may indicate that they never do anything interesting enough to be in a tabloid, or (as I suspect) nobody bothers trying to take pictures of them to begin with. It seems a little ironic (even though possible) that there is suddenly a slew of pics popping up showing John leaving a nightclub at 2:00 a.m. with another woman with additional photos of said woman sunbathing at the family’s house. Did people all of the sudden start paying enough extra attention to the Gosselin's to notice John among an entire nightclub, and now they're scaling the fence around the couple's yard to snap convicting photos?
b.) There are so many other programs on TLC/Discovery featuring families with 10+ kids, etc., and John & Kate (being one of the originals) has been around for so long, that I think they feel the need to do something to separate them from the pack and generate interest. The season premier last week drew the highest ratings in their timeslot. ANY publicity is publicity and this family/show certainly now has an abundance of it.

I could be completely wrong here, but my GF independently drew similar conclusions, and I think they are seriously believable.

I don't watch it but am familiar w/it.  I do think you could be right that it's all a ploy...I hope so.

+1...I would never hit a woman but she would test my fucking limits. Once while he talking into the camera I watched her cut him off by saying " Oh shut up, you're stupid and can't possibly know what your talking about" then started talking for him.

He then curled up and put his head down like a good little bitch.....THAT'S the real problem in their marriage. He needs to take his balls back.

I don't know...he seems pretty apathetic about everything asked of him in the interviews. He makes no attempt in hiding anything....maybe it is a ploy...but I do think they're really on the rocks.

I minored in English, and pick up on little nuances. I remember watching one episode and hearing Kate correct John’s grammar, only to use improper grammar herself in the very next sentence.

My GF just tonight said that she couldn’t live with Kate.
It seems that the majority of people side with John.

I’ve heard reports that they earn 25-50 grand/episode.
Now, with the new ratings boost, they could allegedly make as much as $85,000 per show!

I've only seen bits of clips from teh show but she seems pretty intense     I guess you never know for sure what goes on though.  And how much may be "suggested" or scripted.

    When a woman does not respect her husband that is trouble for the marriage.  Yes, I agree w/your balls statement.  Hopefully they are having no real trouble and it's just for ratings.

It’s sad.
While I speculate as to whether this divorce thing is just an angle, I have no doubt she’s difficult to live with.

I don’t think she was always like this.
I believe that people can and do change.
If you look at old home movies they sometimes show on TV, or even earlier episodes, Kate didn’t always seem like the “monster” she does now.

If Kate were like that from the get-go, John probably wouldn’t have married her...unless he needed it for citizenship or something.

I've joked in the past about it, but I think since they're all twins (though six from one birth and 2 from another), you could split them down the middle evenly and nobody pays a cent of child support since they get "equal" responsibility!
