I always wondered what was with the fascination with guys like this? Is it left over from the dog fighting days? A thing about the working class men or bare knuckle outlaws? It's like a British version of how Americans idolize bikers and thugs.
It's a working class aspect to British society.
Living life through others, associating certain traits with freedom and masculinity and coat tailing.
Like Bonnie & Clyde and others in American culture.
Around the main city's in the more poverty stricken/working class area's everybody and their grandmother knows gangsters/streetfighters/bank robbers, and will tell stories about such things, people that coincidentally have zero first hand experience of those lifestyles. It's like a white version of the black ghetto culture. Pseudo macho bullshit basically.
