How would you warm up for a PR attempt: say your goal is 500lbs.

im starting at around 225 x 3; 315 x 3; 405 x 3; 445 x 2, then hit it.

good? bad? ugly?

thanks

Everyone is different and the warm up will depend on the rep range you are used to working with. I'll refer to plates to save lb and kg confusion

2 plates x5  reps
3 plates x3 reps
3 1/2 plates x 3 reps
4 plates x 1 rep
4 1/2 plates x 1 rep
PR attempt

Could throw in an extra single at 4 plates. This is just me though. Normally I jump in at 3 wheels and stick with low reps all the way up. Like I say, depends on the rep range you're used to imo.

I'm in the habit of adding dimes most of the time...

155 x 10
245 x 10
335 x  5
425 x  3
and then try your 500

the dimes help (mentally) cover some of the difference between that last set and your max effort without spending too much gas..

back in my twenty, i was a deadlift beast, a typical warm up for me was empty bar-20reps, then 120kg-3 reps, 160-1,200-1 then 230*5 or 240*3

I do shit to warmup for the deadlift at meets. For my last meet, a 630 opener, I went 245x2, 445x2, 535x1

I do a lot more volume when training the deadlift though, but that is training. Best thing to remember, it is a WARMUP. No need to bury yourself and do too much.

Same here. Warm up's for me are about 3 sets with just a rep or 2 using big jumps with the last one a single with about 50-60 lbs less then my opener.
