He probably was very obese, lost weight and his trainer talked him into the competition for a self esteem booster. I saw it before in two of the shows I was in where there were guys competing. They were not too bad, but still should not have been on stage.. The trainers should know better than to talk clients into doing this kind of thing even though I would totally commend the people for losing the weight.
