I can't believe GSP is not making more. He's a rock-star in Canada, one of the biggest markets for the UFC.   That guy should be making $1 per fight.

I am sure that GSP is making more...these are just the what they report.
There are PPV payouts as well as the fighters 'salaries' that are paid out just for being under contract.

Amazingly, there are no fighter salaries and the PPV payout was reported...$3 million for Lesnar.  Fighters are making MUCH more from sponsors, but the payout for someone like GSP, who keeps winning, keeps putting on great fights and is so popular in the US & Canada should be much higher.

It was reported on ESPN and YAHOO that Brock made 3 mil.  Just because GSP's was not reported does not mean he was not paid out.

The UFC does pay a salary...it is just hidden in training, appearance fees, etc...thought you of all people would know this.

Of the UFC fighters I've spoken to, and the contracts I've seen, none get paid any kind of salary.  If they sign a contract for $100,000, that's not paid to them in the form of a salary.  It is paid out over however many fights their contract is for.  So, if it's a four fight deal, then they get $25,000 per fight.  They're contracts, by the way, stipulate how many appearances they are required to do and they do not get paid extra for those.

It is entirely possible that some get paid discretionary bonuses, but these are minimal and not guaranteed.

Most of these guys rely on their sponsors for their day-to-day living expenses and training costs...

Either way...I am sure many of these fighters are being paid more by the UFC than what is listed.
Even if the UFC is underpaying, being in the UFC opens up better sponsorship opportunities.

give an example of your "mid level" boxer.

One example is ricky hatton. He's not even the champ and he made 12 mil.for his fight with mayweather.and 8 mill for his previous fight....20 million over 2 fights and he didn't even win both fights.

Ricky Hatton is not "mid level". He holds championship belts (before he lost).

Money wise, Boxing is still way up there no question. But MMA is catching up in popularity (or may have already done so). Anyway i love both sports, i think they can co exist.

One thing is the UFC is a privately owned company that can do what it wants when paying people.  Boxing is not a privately owned company.  What a boxer makes is what he can negotiate with the promoter who is shelling out the money to pay the boxers and for the event.  MMA is probably more popular than boxing right now but, the fighters basically have to take what is being offered to them by the owners who are in 100% control.  And as hungry as most fighters are, most will say yes to the first offer they get.  Boxing just seems to be more liberal with paying the fighters.  If MMA paid what the fighters are actually worth then the payroll will be way up there
