My understanding was that has something to do with the post WWII treaty between America and Japan. I believe that Asian porn, that is to be imported to America has to be censored, but not if it isn't intendand for such. Although a lot of Japanese porn these days gets thru without the censorship....so I'm not sure exactly what kind of loopholes they use to get around this.

This is Japanese porn, not Asian porn. Asia = continent. Japan = country. Japan porn has the 'mosaic' style censorship - it is censorship of the organs, not just the pubic hair. It is porn made in Japan that has to be censored, although some 'underground' stuff comes out without the mosaic. It is not related in any way to the 2nd world war, pearl harbour or Hiroshima, it's just a Japanese law  Note that although the vagina needs to be censored, the anus doesn't, so pics of things in anuses is OK & there are lots of fucking horrible scat mags with Jap girls shitting in people's mouths uncensored. I was in Shinjuku once & noticed a small shop with some porn covers on the outside & decided to go in. About 75% of the porn they were selling inside was uncensored child-porn. That turned my stomach. You can still buy magazines with 13 year old girls posing provocatively in swimsuits there as well as hidden cam pics up schoolgirl skirts. I have to say though, in general there is a lot less child porn now than there was before. Before you would stumble across it, now it's probably there for those that seek it out but you generally don't see it in regular sex shops. One time, I went to see a friend in Denmark & picked up a random porn mag from Family Mart (kind of a 7-11 type shop) before I went. When he opened it there was child porn in there too (mostly in the adverts), I hadn't checked it before getting on the plane. I am pretty lucky the Danish customs didn't go through my bags. They have these ridiculous law that you cannot show genitals, not even in porn. So you cannot buy uncensored DVDs in Japan. But the japanese porn makers aren't stupid, so nowadays they produce in Japan, but take a server in the US or wherever, just outside Japan. It's still not "legal" to view the stuff in Japan, but as no one can control it, it gradually changes. Nowadays "censored" dvds are with very fine mosaic, almost invisible. |

In other Asian countries, porn is just outright illegal.
Thailand for instance doesn't censor porn because it's not allowed. About a year ago, they caught a Jap film crew on a Thai beach making a movie & some wrists were severely slapped.
Not sure about Chinese law but the only porn I have ever seen with mosaic censorship is Japanese.
Not that, errr.... ahem... I have seen much porn....
Then again, it is only 8:30 in the morning.
