Your completely clueless about modern American soldiers and I'd bet you'd be shocked at how many have degrees, possess technical expertise, or work as analysts. Education is a top priority for the military. Watching "Apocolypse Now" doesn't make you an expert.
You're right about that. Never met one that signed up because he/she wanted to be labeled a hero.
Glad to see your military expertise enables you to make an insightful analysis such as this!
like yours would be any better?

Id like to understand the point you guys are trying to make exactly?
Who / what are you "fighting" for ? Do you at least have an answer to that?
Saying you enlisted "because you love your country" is a bit...how to say that...well let's say it s a bit naive and nobody s going to believe you for that, there are more important and down to earth reasons why people join the military. Care to speak about em?
And how you re any different from someone who works as a civilian and contribute to society producing good or services for the others? How does htat make em less of a hero than a soldier?
Saying "soldiers are heroes and civilisans are cowards etc" isnt going to help the cause you're trying to defend or the point you're trying to make either.
Noone here is shitting on the military, at worst we re saying these people wilingly enlisted and are well paid for doing menial stuff and that like in the civilian society those who are the most skilled get the better and safer jobs, that is absolutely the only things we ve been saying here. And that being in the military doesnt immediately makes you better of a hero than anyone who s a civilian, so no need to jump on your high horse.
