Sen Specter Town hall mess
« on: August 11, 2009, 06:46:26 AM »
wow, you have an old man (who already has his healthcare paid for by the govt) screaming in the face of senator specter about how God will judge him for this healthcare mess.

I don't think religious zealouts screaming about religion are going to win moderate support against this bill.

It's live on msn now, no youtube clip yet.

More... an older woman screaming "we don't want the govt sticking its nose in our health care!"

I'm baffled.  Isn't she already living on free, provided govt healthcare?  She just doesn't want kids to have it?

"I'm only 35, but I don't want this country turning into socialist Russia!"   ???

"I'm upset the govt doesn't give me a voice to voice my opinion"
  - Guy who is actually holding a mic speaking to the senator.

"Take that to Nancy Pelosi!"
--- Guy who is more angry than logical.

one speaker had a great idea.

Choose a state, and TRY the socialized health care there.  See how it works.

it didn't work in MASS or TENN.

Celente was right.  People are going to revolt.

Just as Jefferson said - every 20 years a revolution is not so bad of an idea.

this town hall is great, you guys should be watching it - msnbc now.  they're all in specter's face.

A lot of old people complaining about how, basically, they don't want their health care watered down to help others.  that's what this all comes down to, huh?

333386,

You speak of this 'armed revolt' every 5 mintues today.  please tone that shit down.  seriously.

it's always some crazy A-hole on the free republic board who talks about this shit, then does something stupd and gives the board a bad name.

I think I speak for most people here in that while we may disagree with a lot of things our leaders do, we sure as hell aren't about breaking the law.

I did not call for one or say that I hoped it would happen.  I hope it never happens, but the govt is setting itself up for another McVeigh to pop up.
After 9/11 we heard of blowback, etc, from the muslim world.  Do we really believe the same wont happen at home eventually?

I am referring to Celente's predicitions BTW, and others, that unless the govt curtails its abuses and attempts to seize powers, there will be what celente is predicting.  Not from me, but it will happen.

Does anyone remember Oh, I don't know- a few short months ago when protesters were showing up at Corporate Officers homes and vandalizing their property, flipping over their cars and making all kinds of death threats-- This happened in both England and the U.S.

We had protesters interupting townhall meetings and other political gatherings across the country and in D.C. over foreign policy- IE China and regarding our policies with respect to Israel, the Iraq war etc.

Right now in this country there are Eco terrorists blowing shit up and setting things on fire.

We have also had our right wing nuts shoot abortion doctors and kill people at the Holocaust Museum.

There were incidents throughout the country in the past presidential election of voter intimidation and voter fraud-- ( and we all remember what happened in 2000).

Now there are pissed off people showing up to verbally abuse politicians over healthcare reform.

While, I don't see any "armed revolts" being anything but unsuccessful, I would say that the "people" and by "people" I mean right wing, left wing, center, independent-- are sick and tired of the politicians we have unfortunately put into power. How we go about neutering these parasites will dictate how our country operates in the future. I don't think a violent uprising will do anyone any good at all. Maybe creating a third party will do the trick-- who knows?

Bottom line is that the "revolt" is already happening. Hopefully we can replace those in power with those who actually know what they hell they're doing and don't lie like its a bodily function.

Ya someone is setting things up all right, ...but it ain't the government. It's those right wing astroturf groups who are fuelling pandemonium. Appealing to the stupidest, most idiotic, half-cocked imbeciles controlled by their reptilian brains (if you can call it a brain). Then if the President is assassinated, or if an attempt to assassinate him occurs... all you right wing bastards can shockingly say... "That's not what we were advocating". First Dr Tiller ...who's next? The president? 240 just posted about some wing-nut who brought a gun to hear the President speak. You right wingers talk about responsibility all the time... why don't you show some? Look at what your republican leadership is advocating and take some responsibility for the seeds of anarchy you and they are attempting to spread into the populace. The time to question and impede policy decisions was 8 years ago. Instead you blindly allowed the moronic imbecilic spawn of Satan to lead you off the edge of a cliff. No other President has faced such a taunting mandate as the one President Obama has in front of him. He needs your support. Understand this... if Obama fails... America loses... and the Republicans are in such dissaray... they cannot possibly do the work that still needs to be done. The only things the Republicans seem capable of organizing these days are chaos, anarchy, and the general overall demise of a once great nation.

you can justify your words however you want.  They're incindary and don't belong on getbig.  You can cite celente... heck, you can find some author with any position.  But when your posts use the phrase "armed revolt" over and over, that's just not necessary.

You can believe whatever you believe, and I'm just one stupid voice here with no control over anything you or anyone does.  I'm just saying I'm more comfy with a getbig where this kind of talk doesn't start.

But most of these people at the town hall meeting were not representing some far right wing group or some insurance company backed group...I'm sure those are out there, but many of these people are regular Americans who are angry about the degree the government has (or is wanting to) inject itself into their lives and into private sectors.
We need government and we need rational debate, but we also must hold our senators accountable and make sure the government works for us.  Right now the pendulum has swung left of the majority of the country, and they are hearing discontent with some of these ideas.  Remember, America was founded on principles of limited government...people broke away from oppression, overbearing governments and religious persecution.  Thats the foundation of the country, may left wingers want that to change to a greater degree than the average person.

240, your right about the political pendulum swinging.  Obama, Pelosi and the democrats are strongly pushing traditionally known left wing agendas (even though Obama is trying to put a lot of polish on them to make it sound good) I think many people are angry...just as they were angry at Bush in his 2nd term.  Obama is smart, he knows his first year in office is when a president can make the most changes.  No doubt his agenda is incredibly aggressive (I just wish it was more centrist with less spending)

You can't have rational debate, when one side refuses to even permit discussion.

what I find rather interesting is the way the right manipulates the truly ignorant & stupid in your society. They know that stupid only lasts so long... then people start coming out of the stupor... so what have they done as people began to arise from their slumber, and began to feel tremendous amounts of anger... they steer the anger towards the side that's trying to repair the mess the people were angry over to begin with.

Yes, the public has a right to be angry and to want to engage in an "armed revolt" against the government,
...but that was the government of 8 years ago. You no longer have that government. Nov 2, 2008 changed all that.
If you didn't have an "armed revolt" under Bush, ...you sure as heck can't find any justification for it now.

The republicans have found a way to tap into the buildup of immense guilt & anger felt by those who cheered Bush on, as he led them over the cliff, ...and they're giving them an artificial outlet to release it. It's truly ironic that it was their policies that built up the anger to begin with, ...and now they're unleashing it on their opponents.

The time for them to do something about that anger was 8 years ago. Now is not the time for anger & rebellion.
Now is the time for calm, rational discussion, and problem solving strategies.

Had the previous administration not tanked the economy worldwide, there wouldn't be a need for such aggression.

I have no doubt his policies will become more centrist, with less spending, as the economy starts to regain traction.

great analysis.  many people here don't believe obama will move center after year 1.  IMO he'll do healthcare, amnesty, cap/trade, and other lib agendas now, then focus on more public, popular things like killing bin laden or saving the world.  Moderates will cheerlead him.

And if the economy recovers and this healthcare thing ain't so bad, repubs are beyond screwed in 2012.

I dont necessarily disagree, however, it is a great thing that the pols are being confronted by the unwashed masses.

Although the emotions over the term "death panels" run high, there is a very serious issue at hand.

There is going to be massive rationing for the elderly and even Obama admits it.  Its just that the lackeys are to lazy to read between the lines.
