I think Keaton
Adam west was apparantly riled up that he wasn't asked to play batman in the movie version

Bale is goofy with his Dirty Harry Batman voice, but in Christopher Nolan's hands the franchise
is f'n gold.

Keaton plays the part of Bruce Wayne well, cause he's a good actor. But physically, he's less impressive than the guy who places 37th in a PDI contest. Which is why I can never see him as Batman - guy looks like he'd barely crank out 4 reps with 135 lb on the bench ;D

As wooden as Bale can get at times, he still pulls off some stuff very well and looks and plays a much better Batman (and Bruce Wayne), IMO.

Bale is my favorite but Michael Keaton was awesome too especially in 1989 Batman. I will say 1989 Batmobile and Jet were my favorite. Val Kilmer is a great actor but Joel Scuhmacher was a bad director who brought in all the neon and nipple suits. The only thing Schumacher did right was Kilmer and mega hot at the time Nicole Kidman.

spot on.
Keaton abandoned the franchise because of creative differences with the director, he wanted to stay dark but scuhmacher wanted to cartoony, bad move! Keaton left at the right time

Keaton had great eyes in the suit and pulled off the coldness and style of Batman well. His Bruce was awkward in I'm-rich-and-have-people-do-things-for-me way. Funny.

Kilmer had a great voice, but his body was looking terrible in the topless shot.

Clooney is a cool guy, but his Batman had too much weird homoerotic stuff going on to sell me on it.

Bale is the kind of actor that does such outlandish roles that it's hard to judge him. His Batman is okay, but doesn't do anything positively or negatively for me. He doesn't bring anything new to the role.

In the end, it's a combo of director, writer, and actor that makes the Batman character great. Burton/Hamm/Keaton FTW.
Almost always, yes.

He's gotten a few offers, but I hear he's pretty wrapped up in a broad and a monkey on his back. Shame. :(
