Ms. Olympia winner only got $28K for first place
« on: October 01, 2009, 05:05:57 AM »
Winner got $28k.

Isnt that less than 6th place in the mens? I see no point, they get no respect, no cash, not even a proper show.

Not my cup of tea, personally, and these women train very hard to achieve what they do, but maybe it just aint worth it to keep the miss O going.

No one promised them big money.  They made an informed decision to do this thing.  Not my cup of meat either, but if they want to do it then someone will put on shows as long as there's profit in it.

I dont think anyone is making much out of the Ms O sideshow. Would be more profitable for all to drop the Ms O, and keep the fitness and/or figure categories.

How much did the figure winner get?

Too freaky, what are they trying to accomplish.... they would easily dwarf dudes from a regular gym... maybe I can appreciate their "femininity" when I'm done reading the schmoe bible...

Just like Cyborg beating Gina Carano in MMA will kill women's MMA, So did Bev Francis wining years ago.  Female bodybuilding is HOT, when they are clean.  Once male hormones are introduced, it's no longer a female competition.

I respect the lady pro BB's too, but, they sadly they don't draw like the male pro BB's in the IFBB.
They used to have a separate Ms Olympia ( check out Pumping Iron II, the woman).
I few years ago, the IFBB pro division considered dropping the female BB .
The 28k may not be great, but it is better than NO show.

Ageed...
Gina still looked good and was marketable even with a black eye. Cyborg=Unmarketable. You will see women's MMA rise and fall if they can't find another hottie that can fight. It will be like the surge in women's boxing...How long did that last again? Does anyone know or care that the WNBA finals are going on right now? I bet we would know and care a lot more if it were a bunch of hotties in tight shorts and smalls tops playing basketball. Just some thoughts.

Most female competitors who start with the desire to someday 'be Ms. Olympia' do so because they want to be recognized as the best in the world.

They don't do it for the money.

That's where Tre4Pay comes in.   :D

Just kidding.  These women - and I'm including the fitness competitors and several of the figurines as well - devote the same level of passion to their sport that we do to schmoeing them up...and that you fanboys do to schmoeing up the men.  I care that they give it their all when preparing for competition and in return, as a fan, I owe them my support, even if that doesn't always translate into cash.
