Yeah that sucks balls. I lent both of my ex brother in laws money to start up small businesses, which they proceeded to fuck up immediately.

Landscaping equipment for one and Powerwashing for the other. One good thing is it gives you the right to abuse them for life, it you're that type of guy.

In all seriousnes, pay off your bills, buy a loved one a little something. drop 20% of the balance in a short term investment ( GIC, RRSP, in case of an emergency ) and put the rest in an aggressive mutual fund and sit back and thank GOd for your blessing.

Gave her a loan of 3k for some medical issues, she paid back within 2 weeks.
Then she came to me and was up front about the next loan, saying that she'd be unable to pay it back as quickly. I gave her the $, she paid back a couple hundred, and then dropped off the radar, though when I engaged her we'd talk and keep in touch. Finally after some time, 4yrs I guess, I asked her straight out "Are you screwing me or just taking an extra long time to pay me back? Just want to know if I'll ever see another cent."
She began payments again, and once her and I had a falling out over something else, she paid me off one lump some. Too bad I never got the interest on the money SHE APPROACHED me with. But the original loan was paid off, so at least that happened.

but if I got this sum in addition to what I have I would just put it in the bank on a several year running account with approx 3 -4 % interest rate, which is good taking account of the recession

5 people this year, usually in the $10-$25 range. doesn't cover my bandwidth costs. over the years, there have been 3 people who have given very generous donations of many hundreds. People at the bb mags (both US and not) have told me they love my website, use it all the time. Wish they'd use that donation button now and then. (they don't even comp me mags)
