It wasn't Arnold's idea to compete in the 1980 Mr. Olympia!
« on: November 13, 2009, 04:50:48 AM »
It was Franco! According to the book Muscle Wars, Franco had told Arnold he should compete just for the helluva it. Arnold refused. But with many voices joining Franco's, Arnold woke up one morning and decided to do it. Of course Maria was not pleased, but knowing she couldn't change her boyfriend's mind, she gave her total support.

well at the time it was widely known arnold came back to promote his first big movie  CONAN THE BARBARIAN  the produces of the movie thought it would get alot more buzz for the movie goin if he came out of retirerment and won the mr olympia again!!..  back then this was the biggest news in bodybuilding history so far!!  i mean this was BIG..  i actually went to the opening night in toledo oh..it had a big promotion at the outside of the theater with a couple big guys walkin around with swords and axes dressed like in the movie...it sold out for the first 3 nights ..i went all 3 days ahahhahhahaha  i was such an arnold fan then.. needless to say it was a huge sucess and all over the news.. when bigtime movies opened up back then it was alot bigger deal than now i think.

Wrong! You're and idiot to suggest it was the producers who convinced Arnold to come outta retirement to win the Olympia title again. ::)
