Darrem Charles will win this show. He looks great, and since he is considered the front runner of the pack - my guess is that the judges will pick him. He was in better shape in other contests - but since that doesnt count - and it only counts what the see here - then Darrem is the man. Of course - this is New York - and Darrem is from Florida and Victor Martinez is a hometown boy.
Victor Martinez will take second - but since the judges are New Yorkers - they may be swayed and put his in first. I think though - wisdom may prevail and Victor will take second. Victor looked better last year before he went to jail but since the top 10 at the Olympia are not here, Victor - the New York man - will be second.
Third will be Ahmad Haidar. Abs, shape, looks great - but not from New York. Damn, those biased judges.
Fourth will be Chris Cook. Looks great, and they want him to compete at the Olympia, so here is goes! Congrats Chris!
Fifth will be Capriese Murray. Didnt see that coming - but one of the pros who is truly in compete shape for this contest! Nice to see that.
Sixth will be George Farah. Hometown New York crowd loves George, and he looks good.
Seventh will be Craig Richardson. Big, in shape, ready for battle.
Eigth will be Bob Cicherillo. Why not. IFBB Athletes Rep, and looks better than he did at San Francisco.
The lineup in order of appearance.
1. Onder Adsay 2. Francisco Bautista 3. Gennaro Brigante 4. Jimmy Canyon 5. Darrem Charles 6. Bob Cicherillo 7. Simon Cohen 8. Chris Cook 9. George Farah 10. Miguel O. Jesus 11. Neil Gardner 12. Kai Green 13. Ahmad Haidar 14. Will Harris 15. Kenny Jones 16. Berry Kabov 17. Heiko Kallbach 18. Michael Kindred 19. Christian Lobarade 20. Jeff Long 21. Patrick Lynn 22. Victor Martinez 23. Mustafa Mohammad 24. Capriese Murray 25. Manfred Petautschnig 26. Greg Rando 27. Craig Richardson 28. Rudy Soloman 29. Heinz Senior 30. Ricky Welling 31. Luke Wood 32. Jason Arntz

Just left Prejudging here is my quick take on the show: Darrem 1st Place Unanimously! (Still off his best, competing a bit too heavy,Hams Small from the side, possibly peaking in Toronto) 2nd: Amhad Haidar(Great Abs, Nice Color, Great Madatories, No depth in Back, Hams Slim from the side, Balance overall in Condition and Shape) 3rd: Craig Richardson (Nice Shape, Good condition, Light in Back Thickness, Great Muscular Shots, High Lats) 4th: Victor Martinez (Holding a bit of water, way off his last victory at the GNC, Smooth Thighs, Lower Absnot in, Butt too big) 5th: Caprice Murray (Freaky proportions, Thick Skin, High Lats, Vascular all over) 6th: Chris Cook (Nice Debut, Good Mandatories, best shot is Front Lat Spread, Fair Condition, better at Nationals, Appears Bigger) Toss up: Possibly Martinez gets a nod over Richardson but I wouldn't allow that, as Richardson shows improvement where Martinez appears off and behind schedulefor him but we are in New York and Victor has that advantage which should not be fair but history proves otherwise. *Ken Jones is representing Milos. *Dexter is happy I am not comiong back to competition! * Cormier, Wheeler and Levrone are all in da House! Peace out, Shawn

Thanks, TK! Great report!
Can you make any comments regarding the new "extended stomach" policy?
Is anything nociteable in that regards?
Any problems on stage and does it appear that the judges are takeing it into consideration?
Thanks

Smooth running show, a couple of Guts but not in contention. Patrick Lynn had better watch his stomach ASAP! Heiko Kollenbach is hard and dry but the Gut is appearent. The guy from Chile, Christian Loborde needs to stop competing and work on improving. Same Ken Jones on stage, "Thanks for the diet tips Milos!" Now I know why the call Caprise the "Mutant" 31 or 32 guys on stage a bit crowded. Luke Wood from Australia made good improvements! Mustafa missed his peak by about 2 weeks, needs to be drier but that could get scary! "Curly Top" gives everyone a big Florida Shout Out, now that he moved there! Will try to report more tomorrow morning after the results are in. Out, S. Ray

The afternoon session had a solid turnout and the finals are just about sold out.

The Tribecca Peforming Arts Theater seats about 1,000 people. The City Center in New York last year sat around 2,500 people. There was no question that they would sell out the prejuding and finals, but even when they say it was sold it, there is still 1,500 people less than there were last year. Pro bodybuilding in New York should be bigger than this.
However, kodus to the promoter for making the show a good one - about bodybuilding and nothing else.
From Flex's Shawn Perrine, on what he things:
Will Darrem Charles overcome last year's disappointing and narrow defeat at the hands of Melvin Anthony to win his first pro title in New York? Only the New York Pro judges know for sure, but from the looks of things after the prejudging, it seems he may very well leave the Big Apple humming the tune "New York, New York."
Darrem received first callouts in both the symmetry and muscularity rounds and was asked to pose for the judges only one time during round one, a good sign to be sure. Although his conditioning was not quite on par with that of the Darrem we've come to know this past decade, his newfound mass, particularly in his upper body, and pleasing shape provided the one-two punch the judges were looking for.
Ahmad Haidar seems to be in good position to nail down the runner-up spot. Haidar, like Charles, is a tad off from his usual stellar conditioning. But he too has added some mass and his overall lines are some of the best in the business. A case could even be made for giving Ahmad the nod over Darrem, based on his superhero-like proportions.
Victor Martinez and Craig Richardson seem to be battling it out for third. Victor, the hometown favorite, missed his peak it seems. He's got the size and shape of course, but looks to be maybe two weeks from achieving the stellar conditioning he displayed at this event's forbear two years ago. Craig seems to be a beneficiary of the new IFBB advisory which re-establishes a preference for aesthetic physiques over merely massive ones. As is the case with the vast majority of competitors, Craig is a bit watery, but has enough God-given shape to settle him onto the finalists' stage.
Freaky Capriese Murray looks to be headed for fifth place. He truly resembles a cartoon character with his w-i-i-i-de shoulders and tiny waist and flaring quads. Murray is one of the few guys who really nailed his conditioning too. But incongruous lumps in his delt region probably have not gone unnoticed by the judges, for whom the new advisory is obviously being taken in earnest.
Rookie pro Chris Cook should take sixth. He looks very, very good. A slight case of subcutaneous H2O is the only thing keeping him from the top five. Of note is the fact that Chris has markedly improved upon his chest and back development, even in the six months since his Nationals win.
Seventh through tenth should include Bob Cicherillo, George Farah, Mustafa Mohammad and Luke Wood, possibly in that order. Dorian Yates and Bev Francis will be co-emceeing tonight's show and we'll be right here to relay their final placing announcements within moments after they occur. Stay tuned!

I just came from the show and Darrem won. I felt it could either his way or to Victor, but Darrem won. I'm glad for him, because he put on more mass, but he looked good. Ahmad was the surprise number two, I don't think anyone in attendance saw this coming. Call it a statement by the judges, but I didn't see it coming. Victor what can I say, in my opinion he was robbed, I know he was losing it as the show went on, but gimme a break, if not first he should of gotten second (but I'm bias, I'm from New York and from uptown). The rest is history Craig came in forth and Capriese came in fifth.

For Steve Weinburger, I would have to say his firt time promoting a Pro Show he had an excellent turn out and I witnessed him making out the checks for the athletes backstage before trophy presentation which my hat goes off to him for that! I also got a glimpes of the RING Darrem won which was inscribed "NYP" on the face in Diamonds for New York Pro in place of the NOC ring Melvin won last year! I'd say yea the venue was smaller but the place was packed and the show went off without a hitch or time consuming antics Wayne Demilia used to have at his show! Great job Steve & Bev and Congratulations to Darrem and welcome back to the Olympia Amhad, Richardson and Martinez! Good luck Caprice in your first Olympia, work on controlling your stomach between shots and the detail of your abs. Dry out a bit more and hit the lower lats hard! No more Free advice! Peace from NYC! Shawn

You got one out of three , Martinez got a gift but c'mmon can't say the same thing about Cook or Chick , Chris looked great for a first pro show IMO ,could've easily switched places with Capriese and Chick was placed exactly where he deserved, not as big as a couple of years back when he finished behind Markus but still sharp enough to top Mustafa and definitely a better structure and V-taper then Bautista.
