Golf requires physical performance, concentration, course management and hand-coordination. It's a sport.

Bodybuilding competitions are essentially pageants.

Pool requires physical performance too. You need to use your shoulders and hands to control the cue.

Furthermore, you need concentration, table management and hand-eye coordination.

All true but there really isn't any athletic aspect beyond fatigue. I'd like to believe someone in decent shape is less affected by fatigue.

Fat as Daly was, he still perfectly transmitted power to the ball with driver and long irons. It was the smaller moves like putting he generally sucked at. He was entertaining to watch but I don't really believe brute force would conquer most well designed courses. If that weren't true, long drive champions would win all the time. :)

Idrise Ward-El (bber) said that his huge chest would get in the way when he plays golf. So a huge chest for large move of a swing gets in the way, and a big gut gets in the way of smaller moves like putting

Daly was actually a pretty good putter.

Maybe we watched different tournaments, LOL! I can only remember one time he putted great.

To me he was more or less an average putter who occasionally got close enough to score.

How about we do this for each "sport" (don't care whether you think golf is a sport or not).

My votes:

Hockey on top there asscan: That's the hardest question out there since alot of the young stars started in the mid 2000s

Baseball: Pujols
Basketball: Kobe
Football: This one's hard; Manning?
Soccer: Don't know soccer well; Ronaldo (BRA)?
Golf: Tiger no contest
Bowling: Norm Duke
Tennis: Federer for men no contest; not sure about women, seems like there's a lot more parity

WHATEVER...Athlete of the year

DEREK JETER
Jeter maintains an apartment in Manhattan's Trump World Tower and homes in Marlboro, New Jersey, Greenwood Lake, New York[65] and the Davis Islands neighborhood of Tampa, Florida.[66]

Jeter's personal life has been a frequent topic in gossip columns and celebrity magazines since his rookie year in 1996. Jeter had a well publicized relationship with pop diva Mariah Carey from 1997 to 1998.[67] Jeter also dated former Miss Universe Lara Dutta,[68] singer Joy Enriquez[69] and actress Jordana Brewster.[70] He is rumored to have dated actresses Scarlett Johansson,[67] Gabrielle Union,[71] and Jessica Alba.[72] Rumors also circulated that he was dating supermodel Tyra Banks after the two were spotted sitting next to each other at a New York Knicks game, but it turned out to be a coincidence; Jeter was attending the game with his father.[73] Jeter also had an on-and-off relationship with television personality Vanessa Minillo from late 2003 until early 2006.[74] From November 2006 to January 2007, Jeter was romantically involved with actress Jessica Biel.[75][76][77] Jeter has recently been connected to Friday Night Lights actress Minka Kelly.[78]

Those were all hired "beards" for Jeter...Pretty much common knowledge in NYC...ONe of those girls mentioned above dated a guy and the guy asked her about Jeter...And she said something along the lines of he has been in assless chaps since high school...

Gloria Allred -- the civil rights lawyer who has been a force of nature for decades -- has now been officially immortalized ... as a porn star in a Tiger Woods XXX video.

Tiger's Wood

The adult-activity Allred-alike will make her debut in a film entitled, "Tiger's Wood."

it's hard to equate Golf with athletics as mentioned before.  You might as well vote for Jimmy Johnshon, who's won 4 STRAIGHT Cups.  No one in any sport has won more "championships" in a row like that.

Kobe as mentioned earlier has had 3 straight championships and 4 straight appearances.

And who's to say Michael Phelps doesn't deserve some props, since he's dominated 2 straight Olympics.

All that said, I'd pick Kobe - FOR A DECADE.

I don't think Roger Fed was even come into form until 2003 - 2004.

No one has dominated their sport to the extent Tiger Woods has in the past ten years.

Gretzky was essentially setting a new record with each score for years.

Jordan was still better, IMO, because he made everyone around him play better.

How about Goodrum.  No one has dominated taking last place in every show entered as he has.  No matter how many contestants there are he continuing takes last place.  That is some kind of record.  But then of course he is not an athlete nor a bodybuilder
