When you come across some girl you know on facebook, do you send her a request?

I mostly wait for people to send me requests even if I see their profile first (is that odd)?  I feel creepy sending girls requests to be "online friends"...

It helps you link up with people you know and stay in touch with them online, as well as other stuff like becoming fans of an artist or a business or whatever, so you can get the latest news from them every time they post something new. But it becomes a drag with a lot of the people, esp. when their updates are incredibly trivial and pointless.

There's this one gay guy I used to work with, who posts like 6 or so updates everyday, ranging from the latest allergy his cat has to how he's going to sit in the sun shortly with a cold glass of wine and nonsense like that, lmao ::)

True. Facebook is also used to keep in touch with people that you were in Highschool with and you get to see if they turned out successful or like Al Bundy.  :D :D
