You're doing great, Coach! I should jump in but it just isn't worth it arguing over the net. Lots of time and effort but little results. Maybe I'll just say a couple of things.
The government, in an economic sense, really can't give you anything simply because they have nothing to give. What they give to one person they've taken from someone else. The government cannot create wealth. They can only confiscate it, redistribute it or destroy it. One of the roles of the government is to protect you from outside forces and to protect you from each other. They were not suppose to protect you from yourself. It's up to you if you want to wear a helmet, seatbelt, smoke, pierce your body, use steroids to get grotesquely big muscles, or eat everything in sight and get grotesquely fat. They can use moral persuasion. Encourage good and healthy behavior but not use the force of the state to compel you to do so.
Oh, and most importantly, any and all law abiding adult citizens are allowed to own a gun.
