It's part of being human. An inability to control yourself or respond proportionally instead of just flipping out is a sign of a problem, but I wouldn't turn my back on a guy who claims to have never had a violent thought in his entire life. Yeah right. Everyone has violent thoughts.
There's nothing inherently wrong with violence, just its wrongful application. Besides, it is almost certain that someone in your family tree killed someone at some point instead of being killed himself. Or maybe he was just a murdering bastard.
That being said, modern life is disappointingly violent and I'm not just talking about crime or punchups. Short tempers abound, stupid bumperstickers advertising that the driver is not someone to be fucked with, cage fighter clothing labels, laughable affectations of machismo and faux tough-guy posturing everywhere you look. It's as if a great part of society feels somehow cornered and obliged to snarl in the interest of self preservation. At any rate, we're not very civilized.
