Is he a cool guy, Keith or a stuck up douchebag?

People ask me about him and Chuck Norris.  Two stories and will try to make them short (I am busy).  With Chuck after a morning training session with Benny Uriquedez, Bob Wall, Bill Superfoot Wallace, and a few others.  Went to a restaurant for breakfast.  Got there around 10am or so.  We all sit down get our menus.  The waitress comes over to take our order and Chuck wants egss and whatever else (a breakfast).  the girl says sorry they quit serving breakfast at 10.  We were about 15 minutes late or so.  Chuck asks to have breakfast and she say she can't.  I ask to see the manager.  The manager comes out and sees Chuck and everyone else and preceeds to explain why he can't serve breakfast.  Chuck gets up and says well you are making my friend mad (pointing at me) and you don't want to make him mad so we'll leave.  I'm sitting there not knowing what is happening and why can't this guy serve us breakfast but we all end up leaving.   Well as we are walking through the parking lot some people come over to Chuck that said they were from Canada and asked Chuck for his autograph.  Chuck isn't in the best mood right now but he stops and signs autographs and takes pictures.  At the same time some of the employees from the restaurant we just left came out and asked for autographs too.  I said don't sign anything for them, but Chuck did anyway.  He is that type of guy.  Another short one with Chuck............  We were at the Forum in LA watching boxing.  Everyone is asking him for autographs and we are trying to leave.  He must have signed 100 while we were walking out.  I kept saying Chuck lets go and he is looking at me like he is trying so I ended up acting like a bodyguard and just grabbing him and going through the crowd without signing anymore.

Now for a Stallone story.  We are again at the Forum watching boxing (the photo I put up).  We are in the front row with security at each entrance into this area.  Well it was in between rounds and I see this little girl coming up to Sly.  I have no idea how she got past the security.  She comes up to him and in the cutest voice asks "Mr. Rambo can I have your autograph?"  Well without even looking at her Sly takes his arm and pushes the girl out of the way and says "hey I'm busy watching the fight".   Well I am sitting there not believing this.  This girl was so fricken cute.  Well she looks at him starts to cry and semi-runs away.  I look at Sly like what a dick and then watched the girl.  She goes running past the security and into the arms of this man (her dad probably).  I could easily read his lips (what happened!).  Well the guy went ballastic.  He started yelling at Sly and trying to get by the security.  The crowd was so load and the fight was going on that Sly didn't hear shit or if he did he ignored it.  It ended up the guy leaving yelling at Sly and that was it.  But, inside I was thinking was a fucking dick.

Of course a lot of those autograph's are sold on E-bay and such. Many of those faithful fans who want an autograph of their special hero are really looking for an extra buck. These guy's running the con will use little kid's or cute teenage girls to get Mr Hero to sign. And than turn around and sell them next day. Kind of have to ask yourself what a little girl was doing at an big event boxing match. Unless that older guy was her babysitter...yeah.

Don't know about Sly but Tom Cruise must go around 5'7, without lifts. Seen one of his bodyguards almost knock him over when he turned around because Cruise is so short and small framed the bodyguard just did not see him. This was years ago when he was with Mimi Rodgers. Very sexy woman at the time.

It always amazes me that we all 'idolize' movie stars and sports figures to the point that we have to have them sign a piece of paper or have a photo taken with them. (Include me out!I just wanna meet them and shake their hand.)

When I was a kid I made a promise to myself to do my best to meet anyone who I felt was important to me at that time ...... those people included Steve Reeves who lived a few miles away, Chesty Puller - USMC, Bob Hope, John Wayne, every member of the early 49's, Bill Russell, Casey Jones, Marilyn Monroe, Joe Dimaggio, Jack Dempey, Arnold, Franco, Grant (both of them), Pearl, Scott, Zane, both Weiders, Hoffman, Terpak, Mable and Perry,  and over 80% of all the top bodybuilders mentioned on this GetBig  board since day one.

I've not only met those mentioned above, but I also had the opportunity to have a one on one conversation with each of them.

And those mentioned above are just the tip of the iceberg.

But in all that time I never once thought of asking for an autograph or having a photo taken with them.

Then one day I was invited to a get together honoring Marlon Brando and as I entered the house I noticed about a thousand framed photographs on every inch of every wall of the host with various high powered celebrities and I thought, "Why didn't I think of that?"

But to this day I've never asked for an autograph.

But I do have an autographed picture of Forrest Griffin, because he shoved it in my hand as I was passing through the Olympia expo.

I have a good childhood friend that lives in LA, he's a C list actor so you would not know who he is but he has worked with some B and even A list actors.

He's friends with a popular director that happened to be friends with Sly, one day on a movie set the director called Sly over to introduce him to my friend and he gave him him some type of introduction like "This is the next martial arts action hero you should watch out for", or some crap like that just joking. My friend put looked at Sly and said something like "Sly it's an honor to meet you, I am a huge fan, blah, blah,", Sly would not even look at my friend, did not shake his hand, he just turned away.

True story, so yes it seems that Sly can be quite the asshole unless you're friends with him.

Sly was an asshole with his fans until the mid 90's he "messed" with this little kid in Puerto Rico when he was filming with Banderas (cant remember the name of movie) thing is that the kid's dad was so influential in the industry,that about  a year later Sly ended up kissing both kids and dad's ass....even paying to fly them to Florida stay a weekend with him...DOUCHE  lol.

Yea! Dr, Chimps!i Rita Hayworth was my baby sitter for a very short time. I'm not sure that was her name back then but she was a dancer at Bimbo's 365 Club in San Francisco for a very short while my ma and my dad asked her if she'd watch me while he and my mom went out.

JWB... What was Bill Russell like?

Kind of difficult for me to give an accurate description because it was so damn long ago, but I do recall him being a darn nice guy on and off the court. But I was a bit younger and didn't play basketball so I never did pal around with him.

But something interesting did occur when I first entered USF. He personally invited me to join his fraternity at USF. I did attend the initial function but did not pursue it for some unknown reason but later on that year I joined a very hell raising bunch in Sigma Phi Omega (E-I-O-HORSESHOE) and we did manage to raise  a lot of hell until we were officially disbanded for some forgotten reason.

Haz, we will be meeting for lunch if it all works out and can discuss all this un-impoortant stuff at Ellis Island here in LV. We more than likely have mutual friends. Some of the stuff we'll be talking about is "For Eyes Only" though.

I think most of you would be surprised how relatively short your movie heros really are.
