Thunder Bay.  My understanding is that a 550 deadlift and equally impressive bench and squat numbers would see a person being able to compete and not embarrass himself.  With that said, I do not know if many strongmen are 5'9.  Although the best man to come out of my city was 5'10 and 1/2 and came fourth in 2008.

i have only witnessed one dude evr bench over 400lbs, and he was someone in college. the fugger ws strong as hell! he didn't juice either. he benched like 425!

down here in windsor I train with this guy in my gym who is around 6'2 and he was north american strong man champion, his names steve not sure of his last name.
